Hi, I am trying to find some where from which I can buy a decent wooden double edged sword for by bujinkan practise. I have trawled the internet and only found a couple of places which appear to produce wooden ken (double edged sword, sometimes called tsurugi). Unfortunately these tend to be from artisan carpenters and cost a lot more than I was wishing to spend on a training weapon which will get bashed about a bit. My other option is to get a tai chi sword but these dont look sturdy enough and appear to have a short handle, idealy I want a handle longer enough to accomodate both hands. Anyone got any other ideas or knows of somewhere? Cheers
Have you looked at some of the synthetic training weapons for Western martial arts? Double edged. Longer handle.
it's been some time since I trained but these seemed fairly popular around the time http://bujinshugyo.wordpress.com/fukuro-shinai/
I think he's after something more along the lines of this. http://paart-budo-buki.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/ken-bokuto.html
Dean is right, they are the type I am after - I found the Paart one before but couldnt get a price from him. I will find out about the shipping costs from bujinkan weapons as they are close to the £50 level that I am trying to get under. Thanks

Vintage ken, for less than 30 squid! http://bit.ly/1462ylo Bargain. It's not mine BTW! Shall I get my coat?
That's what I would look at. A broadsword waster wouldn't be too expensive and would be pretty close it looks like.
