    Does this sound familiar guys?

    進似追風箭、退似雷電閃、走步須靈活、出手似雲煙

Advance like a wind chasing arrow, retreat like the flash of thunder and lightning, steps must be nimble, hands attack like the misty clouds.

At the risk of sounding incredibly thick, why can I just see a line of boxes ?

yes these are said to be quotes of how a lau gar is embodied

“Attack as fast as a wind-chasing arrow, and withdraw as quick as a flash of lightening. Steps must be clever, hands move like smoke and cloud. Fingers out like spider’s legs, body hunches and straightens like a prawn’s back. Short bridge, small horse stance ensures powerful short range strikes.

also found these as some forms, never heard of the myself however (apart from sabre and staff)?!?!

” Some of the famous advanced forms are, Large Sky Moving Form, Small Sky Moving Form, Ten-Fist Form, Geese Form (Palm form?), Eight Picture Kung, Liu Family Five Element Fist, Liu Family Staff, and Liu Family Saber.

Whats this from UK LG syllabus (5th degree)?

    Bac Keink Kung

Could this be 'Eight Picture Kung' as in list above. Don't many styles have a version of this?

    Great thread guys, but...

...I cant believe everyone is happy to finish there without the remaining lau gar sets!!!! They seem to be left out of the official Lau site too.

    What about...

advanced sword set - Ciun fun daarn do?
double butterfly knives - Cern Woo Dip Do?

    bak ging gung (already done)
    tiger fork - ?

    Quando v Cane Shield & sword - ?
    spear - ?

ps - respect to "Thomas Fist" - as demonstrated at the summer course!

I found these in some old stuff I had...

    3rd degree

Chûn Foun Dô Fa - Sword set

I seem to remember Master Yau mentioning it translates as whirlwind sword or something like????

    ======================================

    5th degree

Di Dô Doi Tan Pye - Quando v cane shield and sword?
Wooy Ceun Cheung - Spear set?

Not sure of the actual translations here though.

    ----------------------------------------------

    Nearly done!

Have you heard in person what these terms sounds like?

e.g. Chûn Foun Dô Fa - Sword set = soon foong do faat
But the "do" is a sabre not a sword (gim).

Di Dô Doi Tan Pye - Quando v cane shield and sword?
Wooy Ceun Cheung - Spear set?

Don't know about the last two. Is "Di Do" the same as "Gwan do" as used by "Gwan Gung" the red faced martial deity?

I think "Tan Pye" (tung pai) just refers to the cane shield, the sword doesn't seem to be mentioned.

The spear set sounds like "returning something", maybe returning spring? (wui chun).

Sorry - not sure of the pronunciation or meaning for the 5th degree stuff so no clues there. I just happened to write them down a while ago.

for the third - It could well have been soon foong. Im sure it meant whirlwind but I cant see a similar looking cantonese word. We get the word taiphoon from cantonese I believe. Isnt there a similar word like siun foong? Is it the same as the siun tek - spinning/whirlwind kick.

Yeah, typhoon is "toi fung" in Cantonese. "Soon fung" does indeed mean whirlwind. So is it a sabre (like in daan do) or long sword that is used?
