I dyed my Warrior One gi gray yesterday. This was my first attempt at batik, and it was... okay. While I've dyed several gis now, and am pretty confident I can dye a gi well, using wax as a resist for the dye is a completely new thing for me. Overall, it's a little sloppy, but I learned a lot and think that my next project will turn out much better.. More pictures and a write up of the process are here: http://www.stevebjj.com/2010/05/gi-dyebatik-project-warrior-one-gi/ Anyone else do any dying, batik or fabric painting?
Yeah, that's pretty cool. I've never done it but i'd love to dye my gi in some psychedelic 60's colors. Possibly complete with the peace sign. Or maybe just use this image: http://tinypic.com/r/x4lxzm/6
I'm working up to tie dye. Check out Happy Kimonos for some trippy, 60's fun. http://happykimonos.com/ They do awesome work, but at $110 per gi, just for the dye job, I'd rather have the fun myself and play around.
Whoa! A tie-dyed gi would either be super awesome or amazingly lame. I guess it depends on who you are, and if you can pull it off
