A little over a year. I personally thought the philosophy and approach were great, but it didn't seem to translate into the practitioners themselves. This is only my opinion.
My Sensei could and can..other so called "Shihan"....ehhh. I remember being at the Gathering in Sacramento and watching the Kosho people doing kumite....looked like TKD in a black gi to me. The "octagon" work was not apparent in the practitioners. Then later at the actual seminar,Kosho people would come and demonstrate using the octagon, but never at full speed, and "pausing" their uke in between transitions, always taken as a given.that the uke would respond...just so.That part kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. Bottom line..does it work? Yes. Does everyone know how to make it work? No,but it can be done. I think some people tend to overcomplicate things, when it's really just good body mechanics. This goes for a lot of MA's as well, though.
