This is just so wrong on so many levels. http://www.koryu-bujutsu.co.uk/contact-us Also the youtube clips on this page are all Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu. Is he trying to allude that he is affiliated with this ryuha? Comparing this with what we see him doing here shows that he hasn't a scooby as to what he is doing with a polearm.
Seems to me that 'koryu' is becoming the 'next big thing'. It was ninjutsu in the 80's, then it became jujutsu in the 90's. MMA was the big deal in the 2000's, now it seems like its going to be koryu. I figure that pretty soon we'll have a plethora ( like that word!) of folks claiming to teach 'koryu bujutsu' without the slightest idea what that really means, very much like this fellow here.
Ha ha. Priceless. Seems like he wants to show of as koryu, non particular (which in it self is funny). If you don't have experience in koryu - he even don't claim to in his biography - why name your world wide web site "koryu-bujutsu"? But folks, he is the real deal, as he says, de does not relay heavily on his belt...

Not the only thing they don't understand, I fear...... I do love the bit in their PDF explaining it all about how hard it is, even for people in Japan, to research things like Sogo Bujutsu (as a martial art), the Yagyu Clan, and "Moonshadow Warriors"..... wonder why.....?

I know nothing about jo really but that jo kata did look a bit silly. Lots of drum majorette spinny stuff going on. Can someone point me to a vid of a jo kata done well though (don't mind what style)? By analogy to empty hand kata I imagine I would see some unambiguous strikes, sweeps and blocks and a bit less baton twirling but there is a lot of backyard silliness on youtube.

What? You cannot see Otake-sensei doing that form? I especially like to neck loosening thingy at the end. It's like watching one of those "XTREME MA" forms, but in slow motion. Painfully slow motion.
