ive been studying keysi nearly 18-20 months now...i can only say good things about KFM as for Krav Maga...i havent studied that MA so i cant really comment , therefore i feel i would almost certainly be a bit biast
very simlair,just different methods, plus keysi has grappling in it krava maga is a special forces art, keysi is based on jkd concepts
I appreciate your reply tel. I thought they looked really similar, just more close quarters stuff with keysi. What I like about Krav Maga is it's practicality. keysi looks a little more close quarters.

http://www.kravamaga.com http://www.krav-maga.com Krav maga is focused on movements that deal with gross motor skills, the classes are designed to tire you out so you learn how to deal with fatigue, you learn to be aggressive, and there is a large range of attacks. For the history, go to those websites. No katas, my class has done a lot of partner drills, with or without focus mitts or other pads, and does excellent conditioning for about the first 1/2 of class. Theres a lot of good drills and exercises you get put through. I believe sparring begins after you pass the first level, which is usually done in 6-8 weeks based on how often you go to class. Testing is long, coincidentally, the phase one is tiring you out, then you deal with attackers in phase two.
Krav Maga is very much what I call a Military Martial Art. Was made by the military and is there for physical prowess building, maximum damage, maximum agression. Its designed to deck people effectively and cause damage. I think keysi actually has a mildly gentler side to it but I do agree with what has been said, it seems keysi is far more about a sort of fighting style involving grappling up or down whereas krav maga is more about dealing with someone standing up but with their weapons and them often at the same time.
