Slightly off target I know but it spang to mind spinning through this thread ... I heard a couple of weeks ago, that the brown and two white stripes running up the length of a belt in Shotokan was Sensei Enoeda's inception. The guy that told me mentioned that when he took some of his students to Belgium for a course, quite a few people approached them, pointing at the 1st Kyu’s saying ‘Enoeda’ (apparently sounded more like ‘Noyda’). Can anyone corroborate this? Thanks

In the kids class they use belt colors for kyu grades. But the adults wear a white belt until they reach shodan then you recive your black. So for the kyu grades here is our rundown 9th kyu white 8th kyu yellow 7th kyu orange 6th kyu green 5th kyu blue 4th kyu purple 3rd kyu brown 2nd kyu still wears a brown 1st kyu guess what they wear a brown belt so there you have it. But my question is what does it matter anyway ?
