History: The kama was first introduced when Japan was trying to take over Okinawa. During this time it was against the law for any Okinawa to have any weapon of any sort. So when then they began to be invaded they had to look within their tools for weapons of self-defense. The kama was just a plane ole ordinary cycle. It was used to cut hay, rice, and grass. Noticing in had a long curved and sharpened blade and was attached to a sturdy and easy to hold handle, they saw that it could make for a very useful weapon. Now farmers could protect themselves as the worked in their fields.
