TKD had a thread like this show a TKD guy beating up a Judoka, Sambo guy and BJJ guy. So I countered with this Vid. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iq_8KfmSZrw]Click here[/ame]
They would fair well, IF the fighters adapted their skills to that environment and trained specifically for it. Just look at Jason DeLucia, he does CMA and has a very successful MMA career. It's when fighters (From ANY style) compete in MMA without studying MMA that they get their butts handed to them. Edit (addressing the actual thread topic): Very cool video. I think the main reason you don't see more judoka in MMA is because most MMA is conducted without wearing the gi. If you watch MMA w/gi competitions (such as [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMjGQk-k2ZA]Daido Juku[/ame] or This thing in Poland ), you'll see a lot more Judo-style grappling going. Still, it's very cool to see Judoka who can adapt their skills to a no-gi environment. It's also cool to see a prominent fighter coming out of Cuba. I do have to object to the music, though. We need to pass a law against making any more remixes of O Fortuna.
easy dude... why the rage against TKD guys? the guys you may be pertaining to also got owned by a judoka. he was beating the judoka around, got him on the guard position on the ground and then suddenly, he was choked using his own dobok. nobody's saying that TKD is better than Judo, its just the guys had a good day and used his tkd skills in a good way to his advantage. i love both arts, TKD and judo. i'll be training soon in judo too. cheers!
I was just kidding, actually the school I take judo primarily teaches WTF TKD. I've actually done more TKD than I have judo. But that was several years ago. I'm a full fledged grappler now.
Very, very, cool! Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you on the mat. Sincerely, Russ (The Judo Guy) The JudoGi Store www.judogis.com
lol...nice vid...but did u see a single judo technique? so what's the point of having a judoka slap butts around?
check out any fights with karo parisyan in. he has an instructional dvd called judo in MMA which seems top quality.
I saw some judo techniques... 0:56 - overhead throw 1:13 - there's some action from a judo contest.. did you miss that? 1:36 - there's a leg lock. Although not allowed in judo tournaments, he could still have learnt it, but regardless it's still grappling rather than "slapping butts around" 1:39 - another throw 1:42 - another clip of the same overhead throw as at 0:56 1:52 - picture of a throw 2:00 - more grappling I think you may have missed a few parts of that video.
cool fighter. looked around for this tkd beats grappler vid , but can't seem to find it. help please cheers
Yes and many more. Fedor Emelianenko Karo Parysian Kaz Nakamura Hector Lombard Paulo Filho Yoon Dong Sik Aleksander Emelianenko Yoshihiro Akiyama Naowa Ogawa Hayoto Sakurai Pawel Nastula
Akira Kikuchi Tsuyoshi Kohsaka Karim Barkalaev Sanae Kikuta ...are some good examples of fighters from an almost pure Judo-based grappling background. There are also a number of other former judo practitioners who have since taken up BJJ and found success with the two (Shinya Aoki being the most notable).
