A lot of you BJJ gentleman are very confident you will not be nut-shotted. I really respect your courage.
Nope. It's a simple tactical decision. Just like I'd rather have my eye poked out than a limb broken or being choked out. It's not that I wouldn't very much dislike being punched in the crotch or having my eye poked out, but at least I can still keep fighting.
It's not quite that - it's a working knowledge of positions and the ability to generate striking power. The gribblies just aren't as exposed as you want them to be, thank a few hundred million years of vertebrate evolution. I've had people try to take out my nuts and my eyes and well, I made them really, really regret that decision. Would you take someone seriously if they told you they'd just nutshot a boxer? Systematic training beats dirty tricks alone every time. Systematic training AND dirty tricks? Well, that's a whole different kettle of fish.
I train BJJ with strikes all the time in MMA. You can't hit my nuts in mount. In guard I'm either going to be attacking your posture or controlling your hands. Even if you can touch my crotch you aren't going to hit them hard enough to gain an advantage or be able to keep your hand there long enough to do anything worthwhile before being swept (others might just break your arm or choke you). Go to an MMA gym and try it. You'll see.
Just for laughs. ----> [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV36_eLAvpU"]Naked Intruder meets the Nut Grabbing Granny - YouTube[/ame] But seriously though. Nut shots hurt. Even Draculino admitted it works at the end of his vid.
Ive been kneed flush to the nuts when rolling: you shrug it off. You'll never generate that force with a hand strike from any position you named. In point of fact you'll be hard pressed to even touch them at all. You cannot hit the nuts in bottom mount, fullstop or guard top against an active player.
Indeed, plus if anyone tries it, on a good day theyre getting triangled till their out and put in the recovery position. And on a bad day theyre getting upkicked through the back of head first, then triangled out and put in the recovery position whilst we dump they're girlfriend via text.......... Obviously I'm only joking........ there won't be the recovery position.
Wrestling is very similar to judo in many respects. Just like wrestling there's a massive SD crossover, but youve got to look at it in context. You are very focused on the groin though, you know how the classic thai stance looks like its open to groin shots, but if you have any ability you know its not. your argument is quite like that. Do you wrestle in highschool or university?[/QUOTE] High school. Yes - I don't like the Thai stance much either.
I do wrestle at my MMA gym too though, so I didn't let that go. I love it. Much more so than BJJ, which I think is mostly just useful for the octagon.
Not actually an ad hominem, if you may want to check the definition again. I'm actually just asking a slightly leading question. Have you recently taken up krav magda?
