You seem to be confirming his wider point about Science. I mean even science is relative and not absolute, but the cultural point here is that too many people go around carrying on like it is absolute. Never mind that's it's our best yadda yadda yadda.

This video explains it very well:

Yes, some people do treat science as an absolute... which is very unscientific!

But we can still judge models on their predictive ability. Accepted scientific models are simply in a different class to occult and pseudoscience models when it comes to predictive accuracy.

If we take Vibravision; the proposed model is "quantum blah blah" nonsense; it has no grounding in research, academic theories or known phenomena. If we apply Occam's razor to the proposed effects of this model, the fact that they can be reproduced by stage magic techniques, and in the one experiment where those techniques were controlled for it failed miserably, then I don't see any reason to believe it is true until they can supply evidence that would prove otherwise.

He says "all possibilities are chosen at every junction" @ around 10.32
QM is also linked to 'the observer'.

So if there's no 'observer' around to see the event of whether it rained last night, does that mean the possibility of no rain last night doesn't branch off?

Ok I get that and that's fine. But if every observable choice and event counts I just think it's as he described.. Kind of like buying a new house because you don't like your dishwasher.

It doesn't really seem to answer my specific question to you though and my personal issue with it. I fear that it's just as I've been been led to believe and not an 'over simplification' as you say. After all we are not talking about something complete. It is every conceivable event and choice observed apparently. If not, please tell me in simple English why it isn't that and if is isn't that, then what exactly are the more specific/ complex criteria you seemed to allude to in your reply earlier. I'm not expecting you to know, just I don't expect you to pull the wool over my eyes by alluding to there being a more nuanced answer to that it's just more complex and my idea about it is merely a 'simplification'. But at the same time you can't tell me what those specific criteria are. Is it ALL possibilities or not? and does that include my observation that on this date and time I observed that I held my fart in rather than let it out.

That dude is right, this has become pretty mainstream now. So you see when the poster earlier made the point about QM. If this is the road in which it takes one, then other alternatives may not seem any more crazy to entertain than an idea like that..

Yea look for sure I get the point here, people try to support certain ideas by appealing to QM. I wouldn't expect anyone to believe something just willy nilly.

I have to re word this.. What I mean is let's assume it did rain but no observer was around to observe it.

Sorry if it seemed I was trying to pull the wool over your eyes, I really wasn't trying to.

I posted the PBS video to illustrate that it isn't the movie version of multiple universes, where you decide to have white bread instead of brown and that spawns a new universe. It is a means to retain determinism in light of quantum superposition and provide an alternative to the Copenhagen Interpretation in regard to quantum wave function collapse.

This is also related to the concept of decoherence, which was mentioned in the PBS video. It should be noted that, even though the Copenhagen Interpretation is the interpretation of QM that is always published in popular science articles and books, it is no longer accepted by the majority of physicists.

People read popular science articles about QM and think "Hey, this allows for magic to happen!"

Actually, now that I think about it, I think that was the power of the Patryns and Sartans in the Deathgate cycle.

Here's some examples of blindfold magic, as food for thought when we are considering the likelihood of Vibravision being a previously-unknown sense being unlocked:

History of blindfold magic, and fake blindfold types, going back to 1740: History - Blindfold - Magical Apparatus

How a genuine blindfold can be used in magic tricks, using an assistant's cues instead: Mentalism -- Blindfolded Vision (Mallusionist)

Here's some examples (youtube will yield a LOT of examples):

    Taped up eyes and blindfolded:

With a generous interpretation of Vibravision, it might be possible that students are learning cues without realising that is how they are identifying objects. With a very generous interpretation, it might be possible that some teachers are giving cues without realising they are.
