A co-worker of mine happens to be best friends with the guy. Me and him were talking at work about martial arts (He's a black belt in TKD) and basically it got around to where he said he would hook up a fight between the two of us.

If it happens it should be either this Saturday, or the next. Depends upon when the guy has nationals.

And no, I don't know TKD.

IT SHALL BE THE ULTIMATE BATTLE BETWEEN KUNG FU AND TKD!!! :p . lol

Congrats. You'll have to tell us how it goes.
Be sure to work on your kick catches beforehand :p.

Kick his feet when he changes leading foot. If he's experienced it won't work, but if the guy sucks he'll trip. Also lock in one arm and grab your shirt, and then elbow him in the face...enless this is just sparing w/o contact? beware of roundhouse kicks and tornado kicks that follow.

What are the rules and location of the fight?
What's the time limit or round length?
    What's the gear you're wearing?
    Do tell. :D

Right now I'm working on tracking down a video camera to use to video tape it. So far that isn't working out. Might come down to me buying some expensive ass batteries for my digital camera (Which overall isn't great quality but at least it'd be something to show).

    Any other advice? :D .

Right now, I'm more worried about the distance we start the match off. If we start off far apart, he's going to be at a much stronger advantage. But if I manage to get close, I'm very confident I have it. He's also supposed to be very acrobatic, (Apparently he can pull off 540 kicks like it's nothing), so I'm hoping he doesn't sneak a spinning back kick around my head. (I think that's the name of the kick. The one where it kind of hooks around).

Time/Place- Saturday at the guy's house, unless he has nationals this weekend.

Rules- I'm under the impression it's full contact. No time limit/round length.

Gear- Cup, head gear, possibly gloves (What kind not sure. Another variable I'm not looking forward to. Boxing gloves= no tiger).

    lol.
What.... in his garage? Front yard?

err... something about this is really starting to sound silly.
What sort of competitive fighting have you done prior to this?
Full contact? Now why would someone who's seemingly worked hard to get to the Nationals or whatever give someone like you with no apparrent fight record a chance at fighting in his front yard?

This is really starting to sound like some sort of Fight Club fantasy.
What do you mean 'possibly gloves'?
I don't see someone who fights TKD agreeing to have a bareknuckle brawl with someone they don't know for no cash, no awards and no notoriety.
It doesn't really add up. ;)

I can understand why you want to fight him, he's the #1 TKD fighter in your state, (in whatever association), what I don't understand is why he'd want to fight you, especially if he has Nationals coming up?

What makes you special, or does he just fight anybody his friend tells him to?

The guy trains here: http://www.olympic-takewondo.com Looks like WTF to me.

My co-worker said that he would set it up, so I'm assuming he would just convince his friend to have a sparring session because he wants to see "What Kung Fu is all about". True, the guy might just outright refuse, it's not official yet but I was under the impression that this guy will do it just because.

I was telling my co-worker about how BB's in his TKD school have played the whole "I'm macho and can beat the <inappropriate> out of anyone" game with me and picked a fight, and I ended up beating them. Because of this he wants to see how I would do against his friend.

As far as location, he has some kind of training thing in his backyard (A bunch of mats on a patio maybe?). Don't know what it is specifically. Gear, it's going to be whatever spare gear the guy has, which may be elaborate or may be just some head gear and gloves. Also rules aren't official yet, the guy might just say "I'll only fight if we fight with X TKD rules for X amount of time during a point sparring match".

I have fought competively in the past and won regionals. I told my co-worker that I only fight full contact or just light gear (Head, cup, back of hands, shins). He made it sound like the guy would fight with just that amount of gear.

hahah awesome...try posting the video plz ^^...just watch out for unexpected kicks...alot of TKDers play it counter or trap..meaning he may back off giving you a chance to strike..but bam...hook kick to the head..but then again im only blue belt so you might need better advice than that..

    Will~~

Remember, if he starts winning, stay back a bit and built up your Super meter. When it's full you can do a desperation move.

So my co-worker never called. :(. He was supposed to have called by now. Guess that means that if the fight goes down it won't be this weekend. Oh well.

If you get hit with a 540 kick, I recommend you give up on martial arts.
