you never know, maybe nessie just was an over wieght nymphomaniac with a skin disorder and something got lost in translation
There is also "Champie" as well in Lake Champlain (I may have misspelled that - apologies to all US MAP'ers if I have). Nowhere does teh amount of "evidence" exist as it does in Loch Ness. Ogopogo was rumoured to be an Anaconda if I remember rightly. Something to do with the Lake being on an Old shipping route from South America - certainly more believable than a plesiosaur in a scottish lake
LOL! true, but it isn't exactly the pacific ocean either! Certainly it should be easy to find evidence of any large predator or colony of such. Evidence to date - zippo! At least Bigfoot has hundreds of miles to hide in.
"Evidence to date - zippo!" What !! are you calling Saint Columba a liar ? tut tut !! "Evidence to date - zippo!" sorry maybe I misunderstood ... your saying they have found Nessie's lighter?
Do you mean the Patterson footage (the famous "black Bigfoot" film). I was not aware of their full confession, but it was written off as a hoax some years ago - Chris Packham did quite a good expose on "X Creatures". Bigfoot has as much, if not more, documentary evidnece than Nessie - fooprints/casts, photos and even a supposed mating call. It still does not add up to conclusive proof, but the vast geographical area around the plethora of Bigfoot sightings makes a more believable case for not being found than Nessie. Cryptzoology used to be a pet hobby of mine (sad bugger that I am...)
the fish could have been a coelacanth as for nessie, who knows? science says no, but science isn't always right y'know.
And besides that, stories of bigfoot-like creatures in different cultures of the world. I saw another special on bigfoot on Discovery channel a while ago. They had 2 tapes. One tape showed that when bigfoot walked, he moved his legs "circularly", hard to explain, but they say it would explain a lot about the way we move now. Another tape showed him suddenly growing 8 inches (they found a way to measure how big he is) in the last 3/4ths second. They examined the "mating call", and said it seems like it's from an ape-like creature (might be human, though), and the cast of the footprints, and they said they are most likely not a hoax. Bigfoot has a TON of space to hide in. Most of it people haven't explored. It's much more believable than a thing hiding in a lake. PL
The walking motion described was from the Patterson film. I saw an anthropologist demnstrate what he believd to be the way the Bigfoot walked. It was interesting, but he had a lot to prove because he authenticated the footage. True it is not exactly a normal walk, but then if I was in a big rubber monkey suit I would probably walk funny too! I believe that the special effects man behind the original "Planet of the Apes" film was supposed to have had a hand in making it.
