well im going to college soon and im thinking of starting kung fu again and i need help pick some out last time i did kung fu i love it but they did more tai chi over kung fu i would pick one i would like to have a lot of Striking (Punching, Kicking,Elbows, and plams) and Grappling takedown type moves can some one help
It all depends where you are going to college at. If it is close to any 8step preying mantis classes I would stop in and check it out. Me and my family take it and we all really like it. It begins with mostly striking but as you progress you get to the 40 throws and 36 joint locks. I think it is well worth the money.
i got Accepted to temple university and im waiting for Penn State if i go to Temple ill be down in Philly has a lot mantis kung fu ill check it out any other?
In Philly, there's: Cheung's Hung Gar Kung Fu Academy 1012 Cherry Street (215) 629-1654 It's located near Quarry St., just west of N 10th St. Here's a link to an article about Cheung Shu Pui Sifu (Tang Fong Hung Ga lineage): http://www.hungkuen.net/masters-cheungshupui.htm You can add this kwoon to your list of other mo kwoon to check-out. Let us know how your visits went. Good luck & all the best to you in your college studies
What kind of a comment is that? That was just an article. I personally don't know about that kwoon other than what's been written in that article. However, if what's written bears any semblance of truth, then it's at least good to know that the sifu has a decent set of ethics, where student harmony & serious training are encouraged & money is not the driving force (as seen in many McKwoons). You should keep an open mind and check out the club anyway, to see if it teaches what you're looking for. You shouldn't "judge a book by its cover" (i.e. your perception of the article's implication of "love making") without visiting the club first and seeing what it's all about. If not, oh well, it's a free country. Good luck
Jook Lum Southern Praying Mantis 923 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA (215) 928-9277 This is Louie Jack Man's school, so it's the real deal.
I would take a look at the mantis class looks like the real deal. I take 8step but I have looked into alot of different mantis styles and find them all interesting.
You won't be able to find much better JLSPM instruction in the US and possibly in the world. The only person who may be better is Gin Foon Mark. The rest have closed their hands. I don't think Louie Sifu actually teaches the school anymore, but I'm sure his students are more than capable of teaching you what you need to know.
