Happy Monday to all, I've recently wanted to start moving away from weights and start using a Kettlebell at home. :lifting: I saw this months MensHealth doing an article on it and that convinced me that this month is the month to buy one. I'm about 9.5 stone and do weight training regularly. When it came to buying one, I wasn't sure how to know which weight to get, because I can squat alot more than I can arm curl etc. I ended up buying the medium one, the 9kg / 20lb one from Argos. I think it's the right one for me, although some exercises I do find myself wishing it was slightly heavier. I may end up buying 30lb next month -we'll see. :weightlifter: I have already bought it but I thought it might be a useful question for future buyers on the forum. Is there a rule of thumb for working out the ideal kettleball weight for someone? Thank you -Aloysius (Aloo-ish-ous)
Ready Mike Mahler's guide to buying a kettlebell: http://www.mikemahler.com/kettlebellbuyerguide.html Also a decent little video by someone for selecting a kettlebell: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPvGPUlAPW4"]YouTube - What size kettlebell is right for you?[/ame]
from: Enter the kettlebell! by Pavel it says for starting kettlebell training: An average lady: 8kg a Strong lady: 12 kg An average gentleman: 16 kg A stronger-than-average gentleman: 20kg A ver strong gentleman: 24 kg So i think you'd be okeay to move up to a 16kg at least.
