My name is Mattias. This website looks familiar but whatever.
So I am 17 years old, studied Taekwondo on and off but for probably a total of 5-6 years. And I am currently studying ShinKenDo at the Atlanta Budokan. Yesterday was my first day!
    Let's see, about me...
    1. I would like to achieve enlightenment
    2. I actually read the terms and agreements! I know right!?
    3. My only role model is Miyamoto Musashi (sad right, but good choice, I think!)
    4. Hope to study Niten Ichi Ryu later in life
    5. Also hope to study ninjutsu but most places only teach it to 18 year olds which sucks because the best way to get good at something is when your young, not 'old'. Although I do understand that youth tend to abuse 'power' or whatever you call it more.
    6. I hope to enjoy this forum immensely and to be greeted with open arms xD

Have any questions? Comments? Regardless I just want to say Hi to everyone!

    Welcome to MAP.

What interests you about Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu and Musashi Sensei?

    Go Rin No Sho

Umm well the style is unique and I have read Go Rin No Sho about a kajillion times. I read the 970 page book, Musashi, (yeah it was the best). In short I am a Musashi fan, but it is more than just fascination. It is his teachings, principles and philosophies. Something about Go Rin No Sho hit home, and I have never been the same. What little I have done of Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu felt right. And well... its kinda hard to explain, it's just something feels right about what he teaches than my other sensei's. And I know Musashi-kensei/sensei (lol) is right based on his successes. I hope I don't sound like an overzelaous musashi nut, cuz im not. I dunno. :dunno:

I hope I don't sound lame when I say this but it is more by a few videos created by Yoshimoti Kiyoshi. I know it really doesn't mean anything haha but the point is the same. Good to dream big right? :)

    have you?

yeah I figured i just wasn't that sure. that is amazing! I salute you

Can you tell me more about it? I am trying to devote myself to the martial arts and would like to know more about Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu style.

What do you want to know? How do you plan on 'devoting' yourself to budo?

    Lets see...
    1. How is the martial art set up
    2. belt system (if there is one, which im pretty sure there is)
    3. Not sure if you know this, but why haven't they built a school in america?

Let me put this, this way. When I practice a martial art, I put my own soul and heart into it. Not just the physical side, but the philosphical part as well. I won't just throw punches or cut with swords. It's kind of hard to explain but I am positive you know what I mean. :)

    1) Musashi killed people, then stopped.
    2) I'm pretty sure you're wrong.
    3) They have.

Iiiii don't know, i searched on google. Maybe like small dojos but not anything big. That or I just suck at searching lol.
Musashi didn't just kill people. Go read 'Go Rin No Sho'.
No belt systems? Yeah I can't really see it having any belts.

HNIR-USA is mentioned on the net. Why does it need to be a big dojo though?

Yeah I know that. I met him.

No belt system. Do you know when belt systems were invented?

    Hahaha :D
What I meant by big dojo is that it is on the web. I don't know, I just didin't find any but its great to know that there is a school closer to home.
EDIT: Yeah im not finding it on the web. Sure you didn't get confused or something? lol

I'm fairly sure. I have travelled over there to train with them for the past few years. Maybe I'm dreaming.

If you're willing to drive 1,115 miles each way, I could put you in touch with them.

    Lol yeah your dreaming.
Ummm i would like to talk to them, but as of right now, I can't just go over there but given the oppurtunity, I would snatch it up! Could you perhaps let me know where they are located?
