Are the grills on WEKAF helmets narrow enough to stop a thrust from a Black Fencer waster?

I've decided for starters to change my sparring rakau (I think its called a bankaw? - Filipino staff). Its a million times better to spar with if you're not planning on killing anyone (unlike manuka). Next I will be getting some fencing gear - https://wmashop.com/. Its a matter of finances now.

Wekaf gear is good, the helmet is a little cumbersome due to the weight, but gives good support all around.. I would be careful of the thrust to the face plate though due to the gap between the screen. Unless you put some sort of wire mesh over the original screen, I would seriously avoid the attacks to the face region

That's one of a few terms for the staff in Filipino martial arts yeah. My instructor used the term kawayan, though I think that was technically a spear rather than a blunt staff. Sibat is another you hear.

Never thrust on a WEKAF grill, too dangerous, not worth it.

    Only just saw this.

Thanks for the correction to you both! :)
