Ask your friend with the 7 years experience(it is 7 years, yes?) to teach you what he knows, after that time he should have an understanding of some basic principles which could help you, plus you could train/spar with him so get a feel for what it's like and how to apply it against another

 

It doesn't have a website as far as I know, it's located here in Sweetgrass, Texas. It's about 15 minutes south outside of town by car.It's located at the strip mall across the street from the old tire plant.

Does this school spar often? Is it a big part of their training?

 

None of my sparring partners attend the JiuJutsu or the integrated classes.

From what they tell me. The specific classes are seperated in to

JiuJutsu
Bo
Jo

then theres the integrated where he teaches elements of all three.

The ones I train with only attend the weapon's classes.

Koryu are taught in a certain way specific to the school but, as I understand it, usually you go through a progression in training. You can't cherry pick which elements you study. You learn what you're bloody well told to

It's a very small town, it would get around fast if folks knew I was learning there.

Pretty much it would be bad for business and he himself doesn't exactly have a love for us "sinful queers" as our local pastor likes to put it.

Well it just may be, as far as I know the amount of U.S. citizens with legit Menkyo Kaiden is a handful.

I'm not sure the town I live in can afford a website, from what my Mom tells me. Whatever extra funding we have tends to go to the school and money for the irrigation facilities. Sweetgrass, Texas is about a 2 hour drivea east of Houston in Jefferson County
