    Hello,

this is Dimitris, Im 32 yo,

Im a computer programmer, after 6 years of working day and night
in front of a computer, I decided to make some changes in life so
I turned my back to the career, and decided to become a high
    school teacher.

Ive been athletic in the past, mostly general fitness (running up mountains, doing 20 pull-ups, etc), but all this is lost now, Im 20 pounds overweight
    and smoking.

However I decided to make a come back and Im currently in a
weight-loss routine (walking, running, strength training). Ive done
martial arts twice in my life, karate at 16-18 (two years) and hung gar
kung fu at 28-29 (one year). Those I quit because of relocating
(for studies and army respectively). I can also play the nunchakus
pretty well (self taught though). The Hung Gar club was really tough,
    those guys could
do amazing things, but I didnt like their mentality, they took it
too seriously for my taste of humor. I stayed there 12 months and
passed the initial test of the first 2-3 months (exhaustion), and
even managed to see my arms punch so fast that I couldnt actually
see them :) and also kick targets placed higher than my head.
So I guess if I managed to impress myself (!), then the club was
    fine.

Currently Im losing about 5-6 pounds a month so I ll be Ok in a
couple of months. I just ordered some nunchakus and tonfas to
keep busy, until September, when I will join a TKD club. I dont
think I will be able to get a black belt or anything, but I dont care.
Currently its too hot here, and all instructors are in a leave for
August vacation, plus Im still overweight and havent done any
stretching for 3 years now, so I figured to continue with my own
program for another month, and take up TKD in September.

Im having a problem with quitting smoking. Im in a constant fight
against it for the last 3 years. I currently smoke 10-20
cigarettes a day, which is ok, since it could be much worse. But
my big problem is that I still need to work some hours in front
of the computer, and THIS is the only time that I really can not
forget about it. At noon I eat, sleep, then in the afternoon go
to the sea, then workout, after workout its easy not to smoke,
because of the lungs "opening up". But next morning, puff puff
again... I got some nicotine chewing gums, but they are so
disgusting in terms of taste, that I doubt they will work.

The only way to stop smoking is to work out all day !!! But this is
not possible. Im seriously thinking of getting two weeks off work,
and keep busy all day one way or antoher, just to totally quit
smoking for 15 days. You think its a good idea ?

    Well thats it,

    Dimitris

    CrowZer0 Assume formlessness.

Go cold turkey, lock yourself in a cage for a couple of weeks, with no cigs, you should get it out of your system!GL with Tkd, but always practice what you have learnt from your other clubs!

Well do something, you dont want to be smoking and working out, thats no good, im sure you dont wanna have a heart-attack.. Use the fact that you may die a horrible death if you continue as a motivator to stop. :)

    Welcome.....

I had stopped smoking cold turkey long ago....

The meat had a funny smell when lit....

Not to mention it was hard to roll it up in cig papers.
