It's Thanksgiving, for those of you that celebrate, what are you thankful for? For those that don't celebrate, what are you thankful for? And in the end, why do we set aside only one day a year to celebrate/remind ourselves what we are thankful for?
Even though we Canadians had our Thanksgiving last month, I would like to say I am thankful for our neighbours to the south! Hope you all have a wonderful day.
It is NOT "Turkey Day." It is Thanksgiving. There is no such thing as Turkey Day. If there were such a thing as Turkey Day, it would be a day we honor and praise turkeys. On Father's Day, do you shoot, stuff, and cook your dad?? Well, I hope not anyway... Calling it Turkey Day devalues the holiday and alienates those of us who prefer to give thanks without killing a bird. Thanksgiving is not about turkeys or any other creature you might consider food. Sure, certain foods have become traditional (mostly due to commercialism rather than any actual reflection of history). Even if your Thanksgiving feast is Chinese take-out, however, the spirit of the holiday remains the same. It is the time of harvest, the time to recognize and appreciate the blessings we have in our lives. The meal that historically inspired the holiday of Thanksgiving (which is actually a myth--commercialism created Thanksgiving--but I digress), was primarily vegetarian. There was certainly meat there, probably in the form of game bird (whether it was, in fact, turkey is merely speculation) and venison (Bambi). Everything else was most likely vegetables, bread and fruit. So please don't call it Turkey Day unless you happen to have a turkey or two in the family (I have a few) and you feel like celebrating their lives (and not their demise). Happy holidays!
Y'know, not to start the day off in a bad mood, but I'll call it any darn thing I want to. Don't like it? Don't have a sense of humour? Then don't post. Keep your preaching to yourself. Personally, I don't have turkey for Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean I can't call it Turkey Day, if I want to.
Sorry you are so grumpy today. I wasn't preaching and I happen to have a fully functional sense of humor. How's yours? It's still not Turkey Day.
Happy Thanksgiving one and all! Ya gotta love any holiday where its alright to give your family the bird.
Have a Great thanksgiving and don't eat to much, cuss jump kicks are hard to do when you weigh 300lbs( or at lest feel like you do) Never mind that Time to PIG OUT
