The good news is that today I actually hit the other guy with a spinning hook kick. Is the first time that happens. He was taller than me. He attacked me with a turning kick and I just kicked him with a spinning hook kick. That was awesome.

The bad news is that my school, which is totally a school focused on competitive sparring, is not going to go to any tournament this year. My instructor had a discussion with the president of the Mexican TKD federation because he rised the price of the tournament from $30 US dollars to $35 US dollars. I think that it is just a battle of egos. Anyway, I feel frustrated because I've been training so hard for the past months to be prepared for the upcoming tournaments, and now there's nothing.

I don't know what to do, go to the tournaments by myself, change school or what? I am kind of lost.

Wow, Pulp Fiction, that really sucks. Is there any chance your instructor will change his mind, maybe after he has a chance to think about this a little more?

I really wish he changed his mind, but that just seems not possible. That's why I don't know what to do. I don't know if a I should just change school or go to the tournaments and represent myself.

I feel frustrated. I am a competitor. My goal is to be a member of the national team, and this seems like a dead end.

spin hook kicks are a nightmare to defend against as they connect at the back of the head and out of the blue

well done on the kick, bad luck on the comp

Good Work on the kick. It's a great feeling when sometimes an attack just falls into place and everthing goes right. Now about the tournamnet...

I sort of know how you feel. I've been off any major TKD training for 6 months now and still have a month and a half of bed rest. Then when I get back I have to wait another 6 and half months before our next tournamnet. Once however our instuctor mentioned you could go to open tournaments run by different organisations. You should ask your instuctor and maybe he'll know of some tournaments outside of our organisation that you could enter into seeing as uor obviously very keen to compete.

Hope ya get some better luck.

As has been said before - great stuff on the kick. It shows a good level of determination to stick with it.

I like the feeling when something you've worked on finally pays off.

    :D

Forget what your instructor says. If you want to go to a competition, go to it. If your goal is to make the national team, dont let something stupid like your instructors ego stand in the way. Just go to the competitions by yourself.

I did that today. It didn't turn out wrong. I fought against black belts (I'm a red belt) and won the first two rounds. It was a good experience fighting in the black belt league. I lost, but that doesn't change the fact that I won my first two rounds, and I didn't lost for a KO. The other girl won 12-9.

I think I did OK for my first fight in the black belt league.
