Milwaukee Genbukan helped raise 40,000 dollars for Japan quake relief for red cross. Here is a nice demo by them. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VQusDU0ACw"]YouTube - $40,000 Martial Art Demo‏[/ame]
Good video and demo with some nice iai by Mr Michael Coleman! Looks like a pretty good demo reel overall for the Genbukan too, IMO.
Here is the link in case its not working for anyone else [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VQusDU0ACw"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VQusDU0ACw[/ame] youtube.com/watch?v=8VQusDU0ACw
I don't see a link in the first post either, but the weird thing is when I hit reply with quote button, the link appears as html in the quote! I have no idea why. Aric
Congratulations on doing well. I'd imagine the red cross can do some good things with the money. Out of curiosity though, what are the two kata shown after 2:55? Are they, perhaps, from the Genbukan's "Koryu Karate"? Sorry if, understandably you don't want discuss them. Just curious.
Ah okay. I think I remember seeing the second in the "Gift of Traditional Martial Arts" trailer. Thanks for informing me.
Excellent demo's and a great result!!! I have to ask though as I'm only viewing this on an iPhone, did Kyoshi Coleman have on a hachimaki with Ninja written on the front??
I thought the same thing too when looking at it on my iPod. However, watching it on a computer I can see it is only part of some design or kanji. Of course folded it sort of gives the impression there is an "N" and an "I" following, especially on a small screen. I didn't think Kyoshi Coleman would wear a ninja hachimaki.
Haha oh thank goodness it wasn't just me doing a double-take at that! Excellent video, thanks for posting that.
Im pretty sure Ive seen that exact kata done by Tanemura sensei before... Does anyone know if it was on a youtube demo or from one of his old DVDs?
