the southern shaolin temple is located in fukien so i gues most of the southern styles hail from fukien province.

these include the 5 animal styles as well as Hung gar, mok gar, choy li fut, southern mantis etc.

Yes, there was-allegedly, probably, not totally proven etc-a Shaolin Temple in Fujian Province.

    Some Fujian Systems are
    Ngo Chor Kun (Five Ancestors),
    White Crane,
    Go Ro Kun,
Tai Zhu (Tai Chor)-Emperor Fist etc.

Bit complicated to give you a straight answer there, as there are about ten different possible sites in Fujian province for the Fujian Shaolin Temple.

Founded apparently in the middle of the Ming Dynasty (about 1425?).

Notice I didn't say Southern Shaolin Temple, because there were allegedly other Shaolin temples in Guangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan and Hebei provinces!

It (the Fujian one) was apparently destroyed by the Manchu (Ch'ing) Government towards the end of their Reign.

Depending upon who you listen to, sometime around 1850 onwards would seem like a feasible date for its destruction, based upon a number of suppositions and the various founding dates of systems that are ment to either have originated from that Temple (or environs thereof).

There was an article about this very subject in Volume 1, number 1 (the only 1 so far) of 'Kung Fu Secrets' published by Yap Leong in 2001(he of the Shaolin Way shops). I believe they still have copies knocking about.

Although the chances are none of these actually existed, even the one in Fujian. The only temple of which there is reliable historic evidence of is the original in Henan. The others only appear in myths and legends, not in local records, classical boxing manuals or anything else reliable.

What do the myths and legends say happened to the temple in Fujian? And if you were to take the legends as fact(assuming there arn't multiple and conflicting versions) do they give an aproximate date as to the creation and then later destruction(or whatever happened) to this temple? Thanks.

The Fujian sil lum temple was supposedly burned down by the manchus during their reign in China.
