Which is why I like training Friday, I feel really hyped up and in the mood for going out! As long as I get out by 9 - 9.30 its ok.. With no break!? You animal!
For this summer, I'm doing MMA on Friday nights. Of course, I mostly get together with my mates (see? We can use that word in America, too) on Saturday nights. During the school year, I considered training on Friday nights (open mat room for BJJ), but never brought myself too. Mostly, I was too tired from fighting on Friday afternoon (a weekly tradition we have at UM).
Er, yeah, right.... now that every pub stays open all night we just train for a few hours and then hit the town! Seriously, 99% of pubs still call time at 23:00. And some of us still have to be up early the next morning - however many we had the night before!
That is a shocking waste of valuable drinking time. Friday night is beer night. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with that - not even training.
It's probably due to dehydration. I normally just drink water all afternoon after training (especially in the summer!) but a week last Sunday I went straight to the boozer to watch the playoff final, and after about eight or nine pints I was bolloxed! (And I was only drinking Guinness - not strong stuff.)
The dehydration can be a problem, even the first pint hits you after a heavy training session. Must admit I do a fairly light gym session on Friday, nothing too taxing I don't know why, but a bit of exercise really gets me into a going out mood
8:00 to 10:00 on a Friday night! Add 30 minutes at the end for getting changed and chattery. I must admit, it cuts in to my social life, and I miss out on a bit. If I want to get sloshed though, I can usually make it to wetherspoons for 10:35. Then it's just a matter of shots before I'm set up for a club, or silly tomfoolery back at my (student)house. To be honest, for students, any night of the week is good, not just Fridays
Its a bit daft having the training session so late, unless its the only time slot available? Seriously cuts down drinking time, and if I wasn't drinking I'd still not be able to sleep until late...
It is rather a late time. There is a Judo class on before ours. Regardless, at my Dojo, the majority of people are serious about their Aikido so there's little contest between drinking and training. To some, perhaps the socialising afterwards is their 'evening down the pub'. Are we still that typical? Yes...we are
We are about to start a friday night class at my MMA gym. Whether or not I go, I don't know. It's the only night of the week I'm not in class for 2 hours or more.
Just back from it! Though if I have plans for Friday night, I go Saturday morning instead... or both .
well training on a friday night is pretty good because when we all finish at 8 ish then we go the pub
I pretty much rarely train on a friday night just based on principle. Sometimes I'll get off work late on a friday night and it's too late to do anything with any of my firends and I'll want to do some sprints or something but I just can't bring myself to work on endurance on a friday night.
i train on friday nights till 9 o'clock, shower up and if i plan on going out that night i'm at wherever i'm going by 10 o'clock, i find the training isn't an obstruction in my social life
I train every Friday I'm in town. Two weeks a month, it's weapons training until about 7:15 or 7:30. The other two weeks are testing and/or promotions. Testing's usually done by 7:30ish. Promotions include potluck dinner, to it is a good opportunity to socialize. (On the rare fifth Friday, there might not be class - it all depends.)
