Cocaine flame in my bloodstream Sold my coat when I hit Spokane Bought myself a hard pack of cigarettes in the early morning rain Lately my hands they don't feel like mine My eyes been stung with dust, I'm blind Held you in my arms one time Lost you just the same Jolene I ain't about to go straight It's too late I found myself face down in the ditch Booze on my hair Blood on my lips A picture of you, holding a picture of me in the pocket of my blue jeans Still don't know what love means Still don't know what love means Jolene Ah, La, La, La, La, La Jolene Been so long since I seen your face or felt a part of this human race I've been living out of this here suitcase for way too long A man needs something he can hold onto A nine pound hammer or a woman like you Either one of them things will do Jolene I ain't about to go straight It's too late I found myself face down in the ditch Booze in my hair Blood on my lips A picture of you, holding a picture of me In the pocket of my blue jeans Still don't know what love means Still don't know what love means Jolene
Seriously, Indigo Girls IMO write some of the best lyrics consistently of any artists I can think of. Why do most people like song lyrics? It is something they can relate to. I really feel like the lyrics and mood of this song express how I feel about life in my more melancholy moods. Best lyrics in the song. Indigo Girls – Galileo Lyrics Galileo's head was on the block The crime was lookin' up the truth And as the bombshells of my daily fears explode I try to trace them to my youth And then you had to bring up reincarnation Over a couple of beers the other night And now I'm serving time for mistakes Made by another in another life time (Chorus) How long 'til my soul gets it right Can any human being ever reach that kind of light I call on the resting soul of Galileo king of night vision King of insight And then I think about my fear of motion Which I never could explain Some other fool across the ocean years ago Must have crashed his little airplane (Chorus) I'm not making a joke You know me I take everything so seriously If we wait for the time till our souls get it right Then at least I know there'll be no nuclear annihilation in my life time I'm still not right (Instrumental) I offer thanks to those before me That's all I've got to say 'Cause maybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime Now I have to pay But then again it feels like some sort of inspiration To let the next life off the hook Or she'll say look what I had to overcome from my last life I think I'll write a book How long 'til my soul gets it right (Til my soul gets it right) Can any human being ever reach the Highest Light (Til we reach the highest light) Except for the Galileo (God rest his soul) King of night vision king of insight How long… (Til my soul gets it right) (Til we reach the highest light) How long… (Til my soul gets it right) (Til we reach the highest light) How long Songwriters: SALIERS, EMILY ANN
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUb450Alpps"]Hunger Strike[/ame] Every lyric in that beautiful song.

One of my pet hates is when you're discussing bands with people and you mention that you don't like a bands lyrics and they tell you that they never listen to them, "I just like the music". Each to their own I guess. It's really a bit hard to post anything here without a warning or ban. Smut Peddlers - Songs about junkies, drugs, prison, surfing, women...the good things in life! But for a punk band they are quite poetical in a street poetry kind of way. They remind me of Bukowski, but that's probably due to the themes more than the structure. They often uses places and locations in the song titles and lyrics that adds to the gritty realism. But there's also a lot of humour in the lyrics too, gallows humour I suppose. GG Allin - Instant ban on this gent. Truly vile, perverted, sick songs. But I find it all so damn hilarious. Gillian Welch - Posted a ton of her stuff in the past. Just beautiful but very melancholic contemporary bluegrass / folk songs and lyrics. A lot of the songs are about the plight of share croppers, itinerant workers and the poor in the rural south...but still relevant today. Gotta have some Tom Waits....I love this song...the delivery, the lyrics. This is a man that has lived, loved and lost and it comes out in his songs. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR5SHuJDlUQ"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NR5SHuJDlUQ[/ame] In particular I love "I'm close to heaven Crushed at the gate They sharpen their knives On my mistakes" Tom Waits also wrote a song with the lyrics... "Well my baby's so fine Even her car looks good From behind" Love that too.
[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snj93QT82rg"]Bebe - Siempre Me Quedara (translated) - YouTube[/ame] found the lyrics... I'm interested in the lyrics because I have read a lot about drug use legal and non legal. And I am curious. I have yet to watch the video myself...
More life in a tramps vest - stereophonics I love screaming that in the shower or car. I would prefer if people just posted single lyrics. I'm a bit slow/lazy so erm it would be easier for me. To think about a response. Because I feel like death warmed up sometimes.
Mod note- I am going to remind everyone that if you post a video here, please include commentary with it about why you are posting it. Things like WHY you like those lyrics. Things to further discussion. Thanks!
Unkle "Nursery Rhyme / Breather" (feat. Badly Drawn Boy) 'Won't you sing me a nursery rhyme To keep me quiet while you're on fire' I find these two lines amazing, and confusing at the same time.
