actually getting ur black belt isnt what every martial artist strives for.....they strive to become really good at martial arts ....getting a black belt just means u have completed the basics of that art...and u are ready to start the advanced parts in wut ever style ur studying
I HATE the color yellow.....yellow is such a wimpy color. Probably why I worked my ass off to make the double grade so I didn't have to wear it .
I like the yellow belt - because it means you have taken your first step, and succeeded. And liek someone's said already, there is lots of new stuff to learn. It's the beginning of a journey. But if we were allowed to pick ANY belt for asthetic reasons, never mind the rank, then I like red stripe on blue, and black stripe onf black most. They look so good on a black uniform.
I was thinking along the lines of a psychadelic tie-dye one. Failing that, black, or white. Actually, one with LEDs like rope lights would be cool!
I love the colour purple but its a shame in TKD they dont do it  but red is also very nice and black
Couldn't decide between blue, purple and red. My first MA was Shorin-Ryu and when I tested and passed yellow belt I asked my sensei if it would be ok for me to keep my white belt. He agreed. I never wore any belt other than white as I progressed, then I moved to other kung fu styles where there were no belts. I did come across one interesting MA instructor that replaced the black belt with a pink belt. I asked him why he did that and he mentioned that too many people are focused on acquiring belts instead of skills. No one seemed to be in a hurry to get their pink belt.
I liked blue as the prettiest. It was funny, I got my black belt, and the next day I halfway wished it were a white belt again.
