There are a number of threads on the topic, but...

Stretching Scientifically by Tom Kurz is supposed to be good, though I personally haven't read it. I think you can get a video to go along with the book, or you could get only the video.

Kurz is excellent, I've also trained with SuperFoot Wallace and found his approach to stretching very impressive also.

    Enjoy

I have one by Sang H. Kim that is very good, and covers all stretches for all martial arts, including good stretches for grappling.

Speaking of which, I don't see why a martial artist would need an extreme flexibility. Unless he wants to distract the attacker with contortionism.

Depending on the style of MA, extreme flexibility may help you out of a submission hold/lock.

Also, flexibility helps to avoid injury in some situations.

Dae Han, do you have Kurz's book or video? KickChick turned me on to Kurz a month or so back, but I haven't ordered yet, still trying to decide book or video.

I have the book Scientifically Stretching; I can easily say it was the single factor that kept me in martial arts after a bad hamstring injury.

The book itself is an excellent resource; it goes extremely in-depth into the why's and how's of stretching.

I haven't seen the video, but I have heard it's also an excellent tool.

I believe Mr Kurz wrote once "If you want to know why and how stretching works, get the book. If you just want a routine to follow along with, get the video".

On a personal note, I am so impressed with the book, I was actually even considering getting the video, even though I've made incredible gains without it.

Thats true!! I have really loose shoulders.
Once when we were doing locks in class, as the guy was bending my arm up behind me, I twisted my shoulder around, and wiggled out of the lock. The guy thought he had broken my arm off!

St. Albert, just north of Edmonton :D

I came back from Calgary to visit my Aunt's and Uncle's on the 27th of Dec, and left to go skiing at Sunshine on the 28th and came back on the 30th of Dec.

Then I came back to St. Albert, I went here and there, but yeah i'm suprised to see someone from Alberta. yeee :D
