    Bodyweight Training:

    A1 Body curls: 3-3-3
    A2 Lateral hanging leg lifts: 4-4-6

    B1 Pull ups: 5-5-4-3-2
    B2 Dragon Flags: 4-4-6-4

    C1 Push ups: 4-2-2-8-4
    C2 German hang pulls: 4-3-3-3

    D1 Ab roll outs (from knees): 5-5-5
    D2 Bulgarian Squats: regular (14), jumping high (14), jumping for distance (14)

    Went for a run for 60 minutes, covering 7.1 miles.

    Banana raspberry smoothie (everything fresh) (16 bananas, 140g raspberries)

    Afternoon
    Arugula salad
    85g Cashews

    Evening
    5 Medjool dates
    Banana raspberry smoothie (12 bananas, 120g berries)

    Calories: 3,824; hit 91% on both vitamins and minerals.

    Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.

    10 minutes practicing footwork patterns in ginga.

    Ross Training EIT #4, consisting of...
    Sprint 50 meters
    Bear Crawl 25 meters
    Crab Walk 25 meters
    Repeat for 15 minutes

    Was able to complete 8.5 sets in 15 minutes (felt good, though I'm slightly disappointed, as I feel that if I pushed a little more, I could have completed 11 sets).

    Morning
    Banana smoothie (16 bananas and water)

    Afternoon
    9 Medjool dates
    Salad of romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, peas and sweet red pepper

    Evening
    59oz of orange juice
    Banana-raspberry smoothie (17 bananas, 40g raspberrys, water)

    Calorie total: 4,965

    Had about 2.25 liters of water today as well.

    I'm amazed you're as healthy as you are with such a high fructose diet!

    Whilst the sentiment in this is funny, you should keep an eye on your potassium levels because high intake can cause problems. I think most problems seem to come at a 500% RDA level, but obviously this is an average and individual physiology can vary.

    From what I understand (and though I've read a little bit on it, I by no means claim expert status), the fructose becomes a problem when fat levels are high. Mine are typically only 10% of my diet or less.

    Probably part of the reason I feel sluggish if I eat a lot of fat.

    Thanks, Frodo. Everything I've seen on the matter, though suggests both that it's a rare occurence and that it is associated with the potassium in supplement form. I do want to get blood tests and the like done in the new year, though, for my own knowledge.

    Not to worry! I just remember a cell biologist friend of mine being a bit paranoid about K intake!

    Congratulations on the 1,000th post! :D

    Don't you get bored with what you eat? It seems fairly repetitive to me - this is not a criticism, just a genuine question!

    Even if it were a criticism, I couldn't get offended by it, as I think there'd be some merit. Actually, if it weren't for grad school, I probably would be bored, but--as fate would have it--school's busy schedule makes me look at the routine as a godsend, wherein I don't have to spend a lot of time dwelling on food. Of course, if I weren't in school, I'm sure my diet would be more varied at the moment. All that said....





    I can't wait for oranges and grapefruit to come into season at the end of this month (in addition to being vegan, I try to eat seasonally and locally as much as I can. Yes, I know the bananas are far from local:dunno:). You'll see a change then. Further, I need to be getting more greens into my life. Probably won't happen this week, though, so much to do.

    This piece of paper better be worth it!:)

    'Rest' day. I did teach class today (two kid's classes and one adult class), so I was doing plenty of capoeira today. Soaked my tshirt, that's for sure.

    Calorie count: 4,391

    Between capoeira class, putting lights on my bike and grading exams, I just didn't feel up to doing anything fancy with food. I did, however, make sure to get plenty of calories in. I think I'm going to keep my count at the 4,000 mark for a while, as I'm feeling more energetic here and I'm hoping to put on a little more muscle through training. I'm also hoping to keep making gains in my running training in prep for a half marathon.

    A2 V-ups (on rings): 3-2-2-2-2

    B1 Push ups (on rings, legs elevated slightly above horizontal on stool): Archers 4, Jack Lalanne superman pushups* 4, ring flys 3, tricep* 4, Wide grip 4
    B2 Archups: 5-4-4-4-4

    C1 Rows (hanging from pullup bar in tucked position): 4-3-2
    C2 Hanging Leg Lifts: Regular 4, Negatives 4-3

    D1 Dips (on rings): 3-3-3
    D2 Hamstring raises: 4-4-4

    E1 Jump assisted Muscleups: 3-3-3
    E2 Single leg squats/pistols: Regular 14, vertical jump 14, jump for distance 10

    *These two sets were not done from rings, but from the floor.

    Made two of my sls/pistol sets plyometric by jumping for height on one and for distance on the other--challenging but fun! I only got a couple inches off the floor, but it is a start.
