Do Any Of You Really Know What Jeet Kune Do IS?

Some of the post show only a few do!......It seams only concept is being taught, out there! Not that it's wrong, just not what the man wanted "IT" to be.......Just my opinion!

Seems to me that even the upper echelons of JKD can't agree what it is. Little hope for the rest of us to do so.

I don`t study Jeet Kune Do, but I have a suggestion. If you really want to know what Jeet Kune Do is, start by looking in a mirror. If your not content with what you see, make changes. ANother suggestion would be to enroll in a Jeet Kune Do school, attempt to soak up what is being taught like a spunge, ask many, many questions, and read Bruce Lee`s writtings.

I think... the most important step is to look into the mirror. When someone gets hit, there style isn`t taking a hit, they are. When they hit, there style isn`t hitting, they are. Style can be a complete telltale of your fate as a fighter, but a style is worthless without its students. Infact, I at times find myself believing more and more that a Style is the practioners. In order to learn the Style you must learn from its practioners, in order to learn a style you must become a practioner.

I think JKD is an idea. Its a concept of broadening potential by eliminating style. Which is why Lee hated the fact that he named it, because it became a label for an idea which is considered style.

 

Can't argue with that, it is written often enough.

 

of course it is.bl closed his schools cos he didn't want people to think is way was the only way or the ulimate way.if he thought the stuff he had was the best thing and would work for everyone then he would of been telling people this.but he wasn't
