I did the Leeds 10k yesterday, the furthest distance I've ever run! Despite the temperature being only slightly cooler than the surface of the sun, I found it a lot easier than I'd expected, and far more enjoyable - so now I really want to do another one! Up to about eighteen months ago, I thought that distance running was something that I was just never going to be able to do successfully, so if I can do it then there must hope for anyone!
Excellent!! It feels great when you do your first 10k...and if you train up to do it, suprisingly easy!
I've been doing a 5k once a week for a while now. I expected the 10k to be almost exactly twice as hard, but it really wasn't. The course was a lot flatter than my usual one, so that really helped. (Although there was wicked little slope near the end which I could have done without! I saw a few people collapse or stop for a chunder at that point.) The hardest part was the heat, really.
Well done Johnno. I always have to laugh when I hear English people talking about it being hot, usually their version of hot is an Australians version of a pleasant spring day.
We've been rockin' 28/29 degrees (centigrade - 84F.) lately. It's killing all us pasty-faced Brits. But in a nice way...
That's fairly warm to be running a 10km run, , it would be considered a fairly mild summers day at home. We had a 45 degree summer day earlier this year, there were a few places that were around 50. Personally the humidity is what kills me.
