We've got a juniors demonstration coming up soon, and my sensei has volunteered all us seniors to help arrange something for the nippers to do in it. I haven't got a clue what to do, has anyone here got any pearls of wisdom that you wanna share? So far the kids entering are mostly 5th kyus and 9th kyus Thanks Sarah
Something with lots of energy, say jumping kicks (anyone can do what looks like a jumping kick, leap into the air and stick your leg out, then land). Patterns with a lot of noise are quite good as well, and if you use equipment get them working on that. Most importantly make sure the kids enjoy it and make lots of noise. Kids enjoying themselves generate more kids, lots more in fact. Lots of noise leads to a big audience who're usually stunned that such small people can yell so loudly. One fallback we always used to use at the last minute was synchronized combinations, but that might be a little hard to do.
Have the kids do some three-step sparring, parents always like to see their kids do stuff like that. Thanx
Do you also teach self defense because you can do some techniques showing how the kids are taught to handle different situations. A grab, a bearhug, the possibilities are endless.
