But I think those plot threads were important. Perhaps not to the whole Rand/Tarmon Gaidon plot line, but they were important to the series as a whole. Sure RJ probably could have planned the series a little better to spread those resolutions out a bit, but we're talking about a multi-million word series here. You're going to get bogged down eventually and I think it could have been much much worse. As you say, Book 11 was much better, and I think that was, in part, due to the fact that Book 10 laid the necessary foundations for it.
Just finished the Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. 1004 pages. First of 10, it's already epic. I really want to see where he goes with this!
