I personally dont practice Taiji Ball but there are alot of people here who do... every morning I walk past at least 3 or 4 groups practicing it... I dont think its for me though...
Well, there's so many jokes in this, I wouldn't know where to start! I use a big ball - the big exercise balls that are used in women's fitness classes, both for putting against the wall and practising some grappling pushes, etc - it's good for feeling resistance... also for putting on the floor- aomething I learned from an MMA guy, to practice "dropping" and some wrestling footwork. For actual taiji ball, yes, I used to do it a lot - sometimes I doit, but usually with a medicine ball. I used taiji ruler a lot more.
What do you find it "does"? What does TCB help with? I am curious, but don't have any kind of teachers and have rarely seen it done. TCRuler is more prevalent in the US and even that does not have a large "following" if you will. Only things I know about the two I have read online (great source ) or vids. Not actual physical training.
I too would like to know what the point of Taiji ball is (and ruler for that matter). This is completely new to me and seems truly bizarre .
If used right it can be a substitute, or a little bit of extra training for sensitivity, trapping, arm movement - I still think push hands is better; but it can offer a bit of extra training - and sometimes a bit of toughening of the arms as well, wit the rule. And, just feels nice - nice flow.
I like this video, because you can tell that he has chi in his movements. His fluidity is that which comes from the movement of his chi. In chen style, the sharp movements serve as a time to clean you channels; thrust stale energy out of your body to be ready to accept new energy.
You believe that? I have a jar of magic kung fu dust you might be interested in purchasing.... makes you MILEs better...
You have the dust?? Where did you get it from? Who do you know? I don't believe you have it. Your lying.
Oh, I'm going to hell in a handbasket for this.... Fire-quan, can you send some to Joanna, it will be the proof she seeks. sorry jkz, the naughty imp on my shoulder made me say it.....
re ball training. I thought it was basically for power training. The idea being to work your way up.. If you worked your way up to what I hear some have - 60kg balls.. well you know. mad whole body powah holmes! Must resist heavy balls jokes arggh
I was told once that either Jou Tsung Hwa or C.C. Chen did some TCC Ball with a bowling ball, 8-12 lbs. So I could see how it may also increase power if used that way, as well as fluidity.
