Canon is one of my favorite songs on the piano; I'd never seen it played on the guitar before, and it totally blew me away. Check it out. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8&feature=Favorites&page=1&t=t&f=b"]YouTube[/ame] Anyone ever heard of this guy?
I didn't think that was bad at all. I've heard more technically demanding classical pieces arranged for the guitar, but he played it really well. He's got very good vibrato and a pretty sweet tone to boot
That was sweet! Very well played, some nice harmonization, nice use of sweeps, taps, and pinch harmonics as well. Nice translation on his part from piano to electric guitar, too.
That was a pretty awesome vid. I've seen one like that before. Coincidentally, played by some guy in his bedroom in front of his computer too. But it wasn't as good as that one.
it was actually first transcribed to guitar by a guy called Jerry from Taiwan, if anyone reads the line6 forums you've probably seen him on there (he posts as JerryC) He's an awesome guitarist, his UK website is here: http://www.jerryc.co.uk and his original version of "Canon Rock" which has now been covered countless times (sometimes very very well, sometimes very very badly) can be found here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6382879841298115399&q=canon+rock The covers started springing up after he posted the backing track he created for it and a tab. You can get them from the www.jerryc.co.uk website if you fancy having a go yourself (it's quite tough, but I'm getting there ) Incidentally, the cover posted here is one of the better ones, but no one gets the big sweep section quite as nailed as Jerry himself As a side note, if you would like to see any of the hundreds of covers that exist now, take a look: http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=canon+rock You'll see that some of them (the ones less than 5mins) don't even attempt the big sweep section Enjoy.
