Right - I've finally got around to kicking myself in a sensitive area until I actually started doing a workout plan this morning. It's a rather simple one, but if I make it through the ten week schedule without skipping a session it'll be a first (my attention span can usually be measured in minutes).

I am being rather unambitious with this first workout plan, and keeping it nice and easy, so that I hopefully won't get dispirited. I get very little time for training so the idea is to do the sets in the morning after waking up at five, before leaving to catch the train.

Today's, as I've said, was the first attempt. The sets are timed rather than a set amount, with lots of pleasant rest breaks, but in total the 36 minutes ended up being:

52 push-ups (elevated hands for ease - I'm following the workout plan strictly for as long as I can stand it)
    24 let-me-ins
    34 seated dips

The plan I'm following apparently is meant to use only bodyweight exercises, not needing any specialist equipment. As you can see my fitness needs a lot of work, and I'll be trying to keep this up to date as things improve.

On top of the four a week morning sets, I'm planning to throw in a regular evening yoga set, if I can find one I like the look of. I've had far too many aches and pains building up recently not to try and work them out somehow.

Are Let-me-ins the same as Incline or Bodyweight Rows?

As might've been obvious, my training log has slipped just a little - along with my training.

I know the 'I don't have time' excuse is overdone, but I think I can honestly use it in this case. Until May I'm living in a slightly inconvenient place, meaning that I have to get up for work at 5:30, walk for an hour, and take a train for an hour. I then get home about 7pm (on a good day) after another hour's walk.

So firstly I'm going to count the two hour's walk per weekday I've been doing as part of my exercise regime, it seems unfair otherwise.

Secondly I'm going to come back and give it another shot in May when the commute isn't such a killer. Until then I'll just slip in whichever extra bits and pieces I can.

  9. Osu,

Walking is great and 2 hours per day should definitely be counted as exercise.
If you wear a 30 Kg weighted vest, we'll count it as training! ;)

I'm carrying a 20kg bag each time, and there's some occasional interval training (sprinting full-out for trains) involved as well.

  11. Nice...
    & a bit of stairwork too I suppose... :)

    You get your upgrade ;)
