Are most Thais not initiated into this type of religious status at some stage of their life? I don't think it's a major headline
Nothing unusual about this in the life of a thai person. Most people pick a certain time of their life to ordain as monks for a specific set of time for good merit for their family and themselves. I had a military friend who just did it for one month after the death of his daughter to find solace and gain his center again.
It's not unusual at all especially since most Thai men are expected to do this but I was assuming more people would be interested in how it would change his fighting career... if at all. I really respect this decision and hope all turns out well for him.
