In that case, I have a curtain rod that is a quarterstaff.

Yea those make awesome quarterstaffs. You can extend them for longer reach or compress them for close combat. It's like the ultimate weapon.

Gentlemen, we're talking about real weapons.

I have parsed this thread of all non-essential and off topic posts.

There already an entire thread that stretches for eons on that very subject.

While that is a true statement, it is also true that not everything 'swordlike' is actually considered a sword. So by association, just because you are swinging around something vaguely swordlike, it doesn't mean you are 'using a sword'. :)

P.S. Wallhanger is a term for a vaguely swordlike object which is meant to hang on the wall as a decoration only, and shouldn't be swung around as if it was an actual sword.

I don't think kendoka claim a shinai is a sword.

and a shinai is not a very big weapon.

Which is why I came to the thread, big weapons were advertised, and after some gratifyingly huge chopping and clubbing devices I get... curtain rods?

    Serious crushing dissapointment.

More oversized chopping and stabbing things, less drapery please!
