    These days (as you allude to in one of your posts) that would get us into trouble. Sadly, most weapons are banned based upon emotional judgements made by those who are the most ignorant on the subject (fear often stems from ignorance).

    I figure once I switch from foam to wood, respect will come naturally.

    I'd like to know more about the "Defense Chair".

    Mikio Nishiuchi has some of the best videos that I've seen. He's quite knowledgable and experienced.

    Fear stems from ignorance upon everything from snails, frogs, snakes, and Muslims

    Not only would respect become naturally, the pain will also come naturally when you hit yourself :)

    I originally created The "Defense Chair" for my sister, who dabbed in the martial arts only for a defense perspective.

    I had designed and built a chair that can be used for defense-"James Bond" style but with martial art "twists"

    (I was always fascinated with James Bond gadgets and hidden rooms, etc.,)

    It came out so well, I allowed one of my students to do a form at open tournaments with it, which BTW, he won 1st place every time!!!

    Soon after, it did not take long for a competitor to copy and produce one.

    In disgust, I dismantled the chair, but I still have the design plans

    Not at all close.

    It looked more like this;

    Anyone would walk right past it or sit on it and not even know.

    My High School Woodworking teacher gave me a A for the entire year!

    He said it was genius. (Although he did assist with some technical knowledge for some problems I had encountered)
