Bad martial art videos

Vut Kamnark's instructionals are really well thought out. He's got a degree in sports science/kinesiology as well. He's able to effectively say what many Thai trainers can't because of poor language/communication skills. He's in part responsible for the art of Muay Thai gaining popularity in the US in the 90s.

And yes his low kick is a whole different animal compared to the Calsanz guy. The Calsanz guy kicking often leads with his head and thus would get countered to bits. He's also desperately trying to push his kick as opposed to give it that whip like action that you see in Vut's instructional.

I'm not sure how old he is when he made these instructionals because they've been out for a long time. But needless to say he's not exactly young in these vids and he's in great shape with a proper fighters physique.

This match from Pride is a classic, I had to upload the whole match.
On page 3 I did upload a series of snippets from it. I can't watch this without laughing my ass off every time. These two are as hard as nails, stubborn as mules, and probably as thick as bricks. Right from round one this fight resembles a bar brawl (minus the bottles and the chairs, but hey we have Bas Rutten commentating). Whats even funnier is Don looks like Freddie Mercury and Yoshihiro looks like He-man. LOL!

This was actually considered one of Pride's best fights to watch for some time. Nothing here I would say is considered bad compared to the standards of the other videos in this thread.

 

I posted it more for its lol factor, not its bad factor.

 

Zombiekicker, would you be able to provide some commentary on what is wrong with the videos featuring weaponry? Not everyone here can see what it is we are supposed to be looking at. I've only briefly used nunchucku in the past in Ryukyu Kobudo, but never was I taught to look down at the ground or be hunched over like that.

 

He's a serial offender of bad martial arts, look him up on youtube, and boy he doesn't take well to criticism HAHA

 

Yes sorry, It's in my eyes the fact that there is no combat application in anything he is doing, as in spinning anything fancily usually has none, but having seen his other vids thats no surprise. I could be wrong, being new to this martial arts stuff :dunno:

Firstly, I feel I should introduce myself. I am by no means new to MAP, I've simply decided to start using a new username. I formerly posted under the username 'Kokoro-Dave', however, I haven't trained in the Kokoro MMA Gym for over two years and I feel it would be inappropriate to continue using their name. Before that I posted as Kenpo-Dave (or perhaps it was Kenpo_Dave, I cant remember).

Anyway, back on topic. I've never trained in Systema, nor have I trained in any knife work, save for the weapon defences in Kenpo. Recently however an Armenian friend lent me some of Vladimir Vasilievs Systema DVDs, claiming he was the best on the planet . Now, while a lot of the principles were sound, some of the stuff was just cringe worthy, and worthy of a place on this thread.

While this looks awful to me, I'd like to get the opinions of some of the FMA people on here and others who have done real knife defence.

Haha...just check out the guy in the camo trousers and beige top at the start of that systema vid. Just keep watching him rather than anyone else. Then ask yourself if that looks like a normal human moving.
He looks like he's got some sort of disorder.

 

My impression is that there is a lot of this in commercial taekwondo, even in otherwise good taekwondo.

 

HAHHHHAAHAHAHAA... terrible footwork... working way to hard to come off as hard as he looks straight into the camera. His rolls where he's got to readjust his shade every time because they keep falling off. Sweet baby Jesus... he can't even pull of a decent cartwheel.
