This isn't related to MA in any way, but I figured this might be the best place to ask this.

My computer can't play AVI files. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this?

What software are you using to try and play them?

    ... PC or Mac??

Quicktime or Window Media Player should work.

Some avi files are encoded with DivX or one of its gazillion variants. This makes it much more difficult to view since you have to have the right codec.
Download this file (Ace MegaCodecs Pack Version 5.00--you can read about it here first if you wish http://www.divx-digest.com/software/acemega_codec.html)which contains and installs every codec you could need and it should solve your problem.

    1. Do a search for BSplayer on your favourite p2p proggy

    2. download any codecs which you need from here

    3. Fire up BSplayer and enjoy ;)

I use Irfanview for lots of stuff - quick image viewing, slideshows, movies etc.

It's an awesome bit of FREE software...

Make sure you download all the plugins.

If your DVD player can play SVCDS, I would run the program through DVD2SVCD and watch it on that. Or download a Divx player and try it on that.
