I've also put up a roulette game for Tintin, who obviously can't keep up with the lightning reflexes of You, me, and the new king of Asteroids.........

    Mr Andy Murray.

    Remind me James/Dave.

What did we used to put in the original Arcade machines?

Was it 10p, 5p or even less?

IIRC it was 10p for the likes of Space Invaders and Asteroids and 20p when the new fangled hi-tech stuff like Pacman came out :D

I remember playing Street Fighter 2 in the local arcade when I was about 12, it was only about 20p a go... Happy days :D

I remember a game called Darius in about 1988 - underwater shootemup accross 3 screens. First game at £1 a go - outrageous.

I think we need a 'best classic game of all time' poll. Any suggestions on what should be in it? My top 10 (not in order)would be :

    Lunar Lander
    Defender (Williams)
Moon Patrol (mainly for the funky music)
    Scramble
    Frogger
    Tetris
    Outrun
    Donkey Kong
    1942
    Hyper Sports

    Or MA related games:
    Karate Champ (still the best)
    Shinobi
    Street Fighter (1!)
    Double Dragon
    Rygar

    Cain,

calm down old chap! MA games are coming, although they will not be linked to the high score table at first. Also coming very soon is a strategy game similar to othello and a top down space shooter game.

My post was just asking about the top arcade games of all time - do you have one?

Don't forget that Tank game- can't remember the name. Made of green straight lines where you shot at things as they appeared on the horizon - you had two handles to pull & push to manoeuvre.

Yoda - Battlezone - top call.

Hexagon is now there for all the intellectuals on the site.

    Ok, I am calm :D

well, dunno about a top ten list but there was this game I remember from the oldies, not sure if anyone remembers it, it was called something like spartan or something....a side scrolling game, I used to play it on the video game machines...

    Tintin Cats: All your base...

I remember the piles of 10p's you used to take to the arcades. Unfortunately in those days a 10 pence coin was about the size of a wagon wheel!

Some of the classics I'd have to add would be:

    Rampage
    Chase HQ
    Afterburner

    And MA related:

    Kung Fu master
    King of boxer
Yie ar kung fu (don't know if this made the arcades or was just for home machines)

And I probably could have bought a street fighter 2 machine for the amount of money I spent on it.

Ya, sort of, the first lavel had a boss where the bad guy had a black stick [not Yoda :D ]

And the second or third level had some seahorses kind of enemies...don't remember much, must have been about 8 years since I played it :)

    The earliest MA game I remember was a Karate one;

Two joysticks pulled in various connections gave you various strikes. If you went through the matches, every so often you got to perform a timed break, with a progressively more scantily clad toon girl in the background.

    Sums up Karate :D

    Commando
    Dragons Lair
    Galaxian
    Galaga
    Scramble
    Phoenix
    Lunar Lander
    Double Dragons

    Ah, misspent youth!

    Tintin - no challenges recently.

Are you trying to steal my titles whilst I'm enjoying the sunshine?

3 each - perhaps a unification bout is in order?
