Hi All Any of you suffer from haemochromatosis and if so how do you train? (For those that don't know hc is an excessive build up of iron. It can cause all sorts of problems). I have been diagnosed with it for a few years but have just started to get joint pain and having to think about whether I should find a different way to train, and would appreciate advice from anyone else in the same boat. PM me if you'd rather not share publicly BRD
Me. Short answer is I don't, I've had to retire. I'm h63d homozygous. It's an odd condition and impacts people differently. I met one chap at the hospital whose levels were close to 2000 but he had no symptoms, yet mine were just below 900 and caused loads of grief. I got diagnosed in December 2013 got down to maintenance levels after about six venesections, did bloody well there, but I've still had problems. They are looking at every three months for a venesection now. Sorry to hear you have it too, it can be a right git.
In case anyone is wondering what we are on about. http://haemochromatosis.org.uk/haemochromatosis/whatis/
