Yet another update in my progress toward that ever elusive black belt. Tonights test was a problem in that it was supposed to be NEXT WEEK but because my mom is coming to visit I asked if we could take the test the following week which in korean must translate into "Bugger it, lets take it now, shall we?" I wasnt nearly as prepared as I would have liked so my stress level was higher than usual. I made some minor mistakes which to me felt as if I'd blown the whole deal... like when I blasted my assistant instructors fingers while trying to kill my board with my foot. He didnt look very happy when that happened. What, its his fault, he told me to use more power... so I did... lol.... Anyway, So now it starts, my last leg toward black belt. I have this belt, high red, and red/black yet to go. Its going to change my workout focus to be sure but more than anything its changed my view on my MA. Now I have to take it more seriously than ever. Also, I got special recognition and a small trophy for my efforts helping with the tournament two weeks ago. YAY!
At least it's over with. Nonetheless I'll reserve my congratulations until you can report back that you passed with flying colors (which I'm sure you did). Way to go!
Nice one Mikey! Will there be video? I have a question or two. How long do you think it will be until you can test for black belt? i.e how long til you can get the next two gradings out of the way? How long will it be from when you started to your potential black belt grading? Is that timeline typical of your school/art? Just curious
The mental image of Bigmikey slapping on a wristlock makes me want to start tapping here and now. Just in case.
