I honestly dont have alot of experience with adults of your age, and mine (almost 49). I've always catered to children and teens. My approach to adult class is much different than how I teach, train and coach the youngsters. I dont do alot of stand up - traditional Judo with adults, due to the possibility of injury, which may lead to time lost from work. Also, the technical side of throwing is rarely achieved, when starting Judo as an adult of 50 y/o. I am not trying to discourage you from doing Judo, it's a super M/A style. One which I love and have been involved in for over 4 decades. It is however, a very difficult style to master.

My advice is to look for a good dojo with a reputable instructor. I dont know of any specific Judo schools in Oregon, so I cant recommend one to you. I wish you the best of luck - stay in touch - let me know how it goes.
