Since the subject of capoeira in Austin came up, are you familiar with these guys:

      http://www.capoeiradarua.com/

And if so, what do you think about them?

Good to know. Our group may be putting together a workshop for sometime midyear. If it happens, I'll post what pics/video I can get out of it.

I'm doing fine myself, getting settled in in a new job and fixing up my, ah... erratic workout schedule of the past two months. ;) Hopefully, late Jan/early Feb I'll be able to get back to regular cap training as well.

Sorry to annoy you but do you know what the cluster of nerves in the armpit is? (Not brachial plexus)

Sorry it's just been bugging me all day :)

      hello,

dormindo, your capoeira thread is really nice! not well versed in capoeira, so didn't leave any comment, but still enjoyed watching the videos.

      thanks

Same here. Love the arts of shotokan - and every person there except one. Like you, the good outweighs the bad. :)

Well, I love the art itself--not always sure about the people sometimes. ;) I have been fortunate to have had some good mentors along the way who've looked out for me. There've also been some malintentioned sorts, too, but the good has outweighed the bad.

      paz,

awesome, thank you =] you did answer all my questions well I might add. Thanks :) Yeah, I am loving shotokan. :)
I see now why the tkd guy you and rand were talking to sees that capoeira is a bit too flashy for him - it is for me as well. and it does look like a dance :) I liked it though especially the batizado vid when they were moving with those fluffy grass skirts on. Pretty! :) I know why it is supposed to look like a dance though. It is very pretty to look at, I didn't see the MA part of it really, hard to pick out but maybe they are hidden for a good reason - the slave owners. Shotokan isn't near as flashy as capoeira, but I like it better. 1. I can't stand on my hands and i can't do cartwheels and two, capoeira is a bit too flashy for me, and its hard to see the MA part of it. Whereas everybody knows the MA in karate. Its much more visible. Still - very interesting though, and I am glad you enjoy it, and I do find it very pretty to watch. Thousand thanks. Blade. :)
