My name is Dace (pronounced as Datze) an I am Wing Chun International Oxford head instructor teaching also in Didcot.

I teach Wing Chun kung fu martial arts to children and adults.

Within children classes we focus on installing your child valuable life skills before teaching one of the most aggressive self-defence systems known.

Little Dragons age 4 - 6 are working towards their White/Black Sash that can be achieved in 3 years. Yes, we do grade children every 3 month giving a child opportunity to set a realistic goal and achieve it. This programme is focused on 80% of life skills and 20% of martial arts techniques and is taught through fun and games.

Junior Warriors age 7 - 12 are working towards the Junior Black Sash, that is still focused on 50% of life skills and 50% of martial arts. This Black Sash is not equal to adults Black Belt in other martial arts, they are only children, who are taught how to deal with bullying and become a great team leaders and community members. Also this age group has 12 grades that help children to set goals and achieve them.

From age of 13 children can attend adults classes and work towards their 12th student grade that helps student to not to get lost within a journey towards 1st Technician Grade or Black Belt in Wing Chun.

I can see how people think we are having 28 grades, but it's not true, if you're adult, you only have 12 student grades and then you make that decision to carry on setting a higher goal or be happy about what you have achieved.

The student grading within martial arts are often there to help you not to get lost within your journey however, if grading is something you're not interested in, you must find a school that suit you and has no grading system in place.
