Well they better do "cover of rolling stone" or there will be a riot.

Well the longsword is both your sword and shield. It why we have those lovely crosspieces. Sadly not alot of use when they shatter.

Yeah, wood is suboptimal once you've got your technique together. One can generate so much force that wood just can't withstand the impact, and then you've got pieces of sharp wood flying across the training hall.

I would look into "Like Steel Wasters" from the AZEA guys: They are nylon wasters with metal pommels and crossguards.

I would get one but the postage from Spain to Canada is ridiculous.

The Boar's Tooth fight school (in London) also makes/promotes both plastic and nylon wasters.

    Best regards,

Yeah but at £85 a unit it's a little stiff for just having some fun.
Also I found them very dead in the hand. If we can't find anything else we'll buy a couple just so we can "play" in public.

Do they make bigger versions of the foam covered arnis sticks? I know they look a bit daft but they are still pretty solid and as my instructor pointed out, leave DIFFERENT bruises than plain rattan.

And Koyo, I would be surprised if you couldn't hear me groaning even from this far away ;-)

    Hi Bear

Concert was great. Freakers Ball was the highlight.
Chris has had the surgery to his leg and was looking good (well as good as he can)

He wants to know the date of your sword seminar in the hope that he will be fit enough to attend.

And komuso, thank you for the encouragement be assured I shall double my efforts.

    regards

was that a groan I heard?

"was that a groan I heard?"

more a scream actually. On the upside you have succeeded in putting the pain of being whacked with sticks into perspective.

Or am I just being too sensei-tive?

(we do this sort of thing in the colonies as well...)

Any fool can cause pain by whacking you with a stick BUT drawing a scream from the other side of the world WITHOUT CONTACT!!!!!

    I rest my case.
