i find i have to be an attacking fighter. Im shorter than most people i sparr so i find im the one doing the hunting and trying to slip and drill.

So if you believe in "attack is the best form of defense" are you an attacker or a defender? Both? Or does it depend on your intention

I don't think anyone can be one or the other. You may be more focussed on defense, or more focussed on attack, but they'll both be there. Where the balance lays will be personal to you.

Depends. I'm fundementally a defender but if I feel I'm better than my opponent or if I just get bored while they mess about, I'll fight like an attacker.

If you believe 'attack is the best form of defense' you're an attacker. But, it just so happens that attackers defend better than defenders if you know what I mean.

Do you ever use attack in your defense while defending?

I'm usually an attacker but recently I've been working hard on counter throwing stuff so I guess I'm a bit of both.

I'm just a coward. I react out of fear

I defend through offense, so I put a bit of both.

I dont really like defensive fighting. As I tend to block a lot of techniques with my face this seems to happen a lot less if I go on the offensive, as people tend to forget about hitting back when continously being hit. ;)

I've been told that I defend whilst pushing forward. But I land mostly when counter punching.

Bit of both. I sort of hang back my attack while I see what opponent is like. Once I know what I have to do, it's all out attack. :woo:

Defense can be a form of attack. Depending on the type of block I do, the bones in my forearms are really pointy and hurt who ever is punching.

Sometimes I have to be reminded in partner training to not block so hard...I'll have to remember that today when I go to class.

If I do attack someone I like to do it really fast, and not give the indication I'm going to hit them until it's too late. I almost punched someone in the eye like that once. Lucky for me I was able to stop before I got there, just tapped him lightly on the cheek. Looked like it had the potiental to be really painful.
