He bowed and some Brazilian hit him in the head and stoled it from him... LoL

Anderson's risky style of defence wasn't as much of a problem as I thought but he did get caught a few times. His management of damage from the bottom was excellent though.

I think if anything Sonnen wanted Silva ****ed so he would come out aggressive at the beginning, and he did. It let Sonnen get a pretty easy takedown but thankfully that didn't cost the fight.

Anyone else notice that knee at Sonnen's face right at the end when he was stitting against the cage?

I'm not sure but I don't think the knee caught the face, maybe Anderson's thigh hit Sonnen. However it may have been Andersons intention. Sonnen wasn't mad though he said he never like that rule anyway.

Silva did do a bunch of other stuff like short grabbing and putting some of his face vaseline on his body, must have been those techniques Steven Seagal claimed he was teaching Anderson that at first they thought were illegal, but turned out to be legal.

    Seagal Strikes again.

Chael Didn't complain about it, so I suppose it's ok.

and this is why I you never bet against silva. I was worried going in, especially after the first round, but anderson proved his worth. I think it was a good idea to fight sonnen against the cage- seing as it stops his takedown ability.

I love seeing crap talkers lose, and I thought Anderson did some trolling himself when he invited him to the BBQ. Was it me, or did sonnen seem like he didn't want to even go neer the Silva afterwards?

now- let the silva meme's begin!!!!!

Well there you go... much as I suspected. Silva beat that loudmouth's ass. Seemed like early premature stoppage to me. Though maybe it was my extreme distaste for Sonnen's low class brand of self promotion. Maybe while he's nursing the lumps on his face he can rethink his marketing strategy.

Sonnen even in full mount couldn't figure out Silva. Then came backfist flop. lol. And then he met Silvas knee. Too bad so sad. I'm sure he's going to have a whole mouthful of doo-doo to spew now that that dirty little Brazilian who was playing in the mud beat his sorry ass.

ahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahaa.... if you try hard enough Chael... you probably can get yet another chance to fail. :D

Let's just hope that fat squinty slob of an Aikdoka doesn't let his grease-ball style of dress wear off on Silva. If that happened then Sonnen might actually have something to talk about.

I don't follow the sport, can anyone please explain to me what's going on with Steven Seagal? I thought he was an actor, and he had nothing to do with competitive fighting, so what's he doing in the middle of this?

It's a genuine question, I have no idea so please, for dummies!

Silva did some training with Seagal.

Seagal "Trains" Anderson. If training is the same thing as taking credit.

Weird but enjoyable advert, especially the kill bill part. Seagal is basically a weird publicity stunt.

Now in a break to all the Silva-Sonnen-Seagal.
Did anyone say Fukuda's single leg shot? he was moving at relativistic speeds.

Indeed the replay clearly shows that Silva landed a clean knee to the chest. Nuff said.

Although the shorts grabbing was clearly illegal I don't think it affected the outcome of the fight. Silva was controlling Sonnen's hips either way. But agreed the ref should've just deducted a point. Fouls are not reprimanded enough in the sport but its not like this is the only fight where it wasn't reprimanded.

Not really worried about the vaseline. It was an honest mistake and was quickly remedied and had no bearing on the fight.

So down to the real nitty gritty. Silva's guardwork was awesome. Although Sonnen did pass I learned something from watching defend. I think perhaps one other fighter earlier in the card did the same thing. When Sonnen got full mount Silva got some inside leg hooks in and stretched him out neutralizing Sonnen. At that point Sonnen couldn't posture up to land any forceful GnP and couldn't leverage his weight for a sub. Plus those leg hooks could give Silva the only shot he had in sweeping out of the full mount. In the end it was moot and the round ended. Had it continued the ref would've stood them up but it was a subtle technique to defend the full mount effectively that I'll keep in mind from now on.

Obviously Sonnen was a fool for throwing a flailing failing spinning backfist and was promptly punished for it. Great win by a great champ.

Only other fight that peaked my interest was Stun Gun and Maia. I'm really really disappointed Stun Gun got hurt. I hope he recovers well and soon. I believe he still worthy of top 10 fights and this freak accident just delayed what will hopefully be nice run. I also was glad that Maia has finally gone back to being a brilliant jujitsi mediocre striking never suited him. Again the abrupt end robbed us fans of seeing what those guys really had but I for one and very hopeful that Maia drop to WW will go hand in hand with a rededication to the awesome submissions that made him.

Yeah I wasn't complaining about Silva, I was just using it as a flippant example of Seagal's allegedly Illegal but not techniques. Sonnen being his usual classy self didn't complain about it.

It probably didn't affect much Sonnen would get caught with something at some point whether it would be a submission after tiring himself out or he his Bruce Lee imitation. I think his real mistake was just sitting still whilst Silva advanced same thing that happened to Vitor. He should of tried a low single or done the Sonnen barrel roll to left; but it's easy to say he should've done this or that.

And the DHK vs Maia was really unfortunate, dissapointed that could have been a good fight.

Anderson Silva was pure awesome on that second round. So calm and collected, I'm really happy Chael Sonnen got his ass handed to him. The talk at the end Anderson Silva showed great sportsmanship.

BOOM! just as I predicted 2nd round finish to Silva. This proves a non-steroided Sonnen proved no match to the class of Anderson Silva. I saw him losing ever since he "lost" to Bisping, I think Bisping would pose a larger threat to Silva, though still would lose.

My fight of the night was the CUNG LE vs. The Predator.

Cung Le is very underrated, this was his first win in MMA that wasnt a KO.

The sportsmanship in the cung/cote fight was amazing.
Ill have to watch it again but it was like Cung was going to do a spinning back kick which cote noticed and cung noticed that he noticed so he pulled out of it then they nodded at each other, touched gloves and continued.

Silly mistake by Sonnen, good game plan from Silva.

I think the superiority of Silvas striking was apparent and he did very well in the second round to use the cage to defend the takedown and stalled effectively for the standup and to limit damage during the first.
Chael's wrestling is ridiculous. I think if he hadn't got wild and careless then the fight could have been easily quite different.
I didn't see ant significant difference in Silva's performance that could have been attributed to injury ion the previous fight. He was simply far better prepared for specifics of what he was facing this time around and capitalised effectively on good fortune.
After having looked more closely at Sonnen off the back of the thread on him here, I actually really like him and was rooting for him to win. While I personally love his smack talk, I think his comments during the post fight press conference are a credit to him and reveal him at his most genuine and sincere. I'd be interested to see if he retires or shifts weight division after this.

Card was good overall. Shame about the Damien Mia fight ending as it did though.
