  2. Mushroom

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

I would be similar except that I would be going for
    Evans and Che Mills.

I've followed Mills career for a while, I was rooting for him when he went for the TUF UK/US but alas didnt get through.
Didnt know he was Mark Weir (UK MMA legend) cousin so he had some good training stock.

Evans. Stronger, aggressive, mentally prepared. And although both himself and Jones know each other so well, Evans has been at it for longer and most likely taught Jones some of the tricks he knows (Albeit Jones being a great wrestler himself).

Evans all the way for me.

    No way. Jones beats Evans.

Brendan Schaub vs. Ben Rothwell -- I might go for Schaub on that one.

And I would pick Travis Browne. He kicked Stephan Struve's butt, I remember.

Hmm. Well, I got Schaub wrong but Travis Browne right. :)

Gotta love Jones' elbows. The highlight reel sure was sweet. :)

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

Just a gentle reminder to all about SPOILER tags :)

    (i'm seeing it tonight)

Mushroom De-powered to come back better than before.

    Maximo Blanco vs. Marcus Brimage

Back an forth fight, each stepping in and out of each other's range. Round 1, initially went to Brimage despite very late in the round he took a jumping scissor kick to the face. But Brimage was the controlling element.
Rounds 2 and 3 was more of the same...

    then...the epic happened.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Ic_tppSho&feature=player_embedded"]Brimage and Blanco Tumble at UFC 145 - YouTube[/ame]

We had a flip off! Unfortunately as the bell had already rung for the end of the fight the decision went to Brimage by Split Decision

    Keith Wisniewski vs. Chris Clements

Clements was winning on the standup, Wisnieski had his chin nice and high up, but he managed to grab hold of Clements and use his superior ground work and took Clements to the ground, from the cage and straight into Side Control. Clements at one point from the bottom managed to elbow Wisniewski opening up a large cut above the eye but nothing fight ending.
After a couple of minutes on the ground, of Clements defending attack while on the bottom.. Mario Yamasaki's Brother who was the referree stood them up! (from then on he was referred to as Crapasaki). Joe Rogan echoing our objections and also apparently is a notoriously poor ref.

Over the next couple of rounds, Clements although taken down a couple of times was able to control the standup and rocked Wisniewski a good few times, who was visibly wilting in the later stages, however stood his ground.

    Clements by Split Decision

    Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero

Mac Danzig came out leaner than I remember and Escudero adopted a strange fighting stance. Joe and Goldy commented it looked like Muay Thai, I personally say it just looked jittery, however it was quite effective with the head movement and defence. Danzig however had other plans and kept trying to push Escudero up against the fence, when they broke Escudero then kept his adopted stance, which to this poster thought it strange that he would "wing" his punches and at times stand there like he was posing.

Still in the first round, the fight got to the ground when Escudero managed to grab a heel hook on Danzig and twisted it in an unGodly manner. Danzig clearly in pain and with the foot/shin facing a different direction from the rest of his body, span around, took side control and nearly straight to the back of Escudero who just thought "What the hell happened?"
After some scrambling both guys got up and carried on, strategically exchanging strikes.
It wasnt until the last round I believe that everyone then started to notice Danzig's foot (the one in the lock) and a large swelling on the front outside facing of the ankle. It however did not affect Danzig's movement and even kicked with it. Initially the thoughts was that it was broken...but then it possibly was just bruising swelling but it got bigger and Danzig never seemed to notice and hopped around on it comfortably.

The final buzzer went and Danzig, like waking from a hypnotic trance suddenly felt pain in his oversized, pregnant looking ankle and finally started limping. Proving that Danzig is still one crazy dude.

    Danzig - Unanimous Decision

    Anthony Njokuani vs. John Makdessi

Utilising his long reach and super long legs, Njokuani turned this into a kicking competition against Makdessi, who is a good kicker himself with much of his highlight reel consisting of turning round kicks.
Njokuani however kept it simple, circling around, picking his shots and giving out hard front kicks to the body and thigh area of Makdessi. Makdessi looked visibily frustrated as the odd salvo did get through, but the much taller, lankier and "more elusive" Njokuani kept himself out of trouble for the 3 rounds and got..

    Unanimous Descion - Njokuani

    Stephen Thompson vs. Matt Brown

Karate point sparring vs Muay Thai as some people called this. Thompson took his hands down, sideways stance and used some effective kicking, many hoping for another Instep Round Kick KO like his last finish. Brown initially managed taking a few to the gut then started to catch the foot of the kicks, then Brown was rocked by hand strikes of Thompson. Brown was wobbly on the back foot but then managed to finally grab hold of Thompson and dumped him onto the ground when Thompson was constantly stacked, punched, elbowed, kneed. Thompson survived the 1st round but had several cuts to his face and was bleeding and bruised.
2nd round, Thompson undeterred went in striking and at times once again rocking The Immortal but it was Thompson's ground game (or lack of) that was his downfall, which to some was a bit suprising that as the Brother in Law of a Machado didnt take advantage of such lineage.
Thompson was covered in a Crucifix position, peppered with more elbows and knees, he survived but was unable to get out of it.

3rd round, Brown pressed the action even going for a head-round-kick, Thompson trying to attack with more of his Karate style side step kicks but was so exhausted, barely had any muster. In the end he was taken down, on his back and being stacked on by Brown.
Brown gaining full mount at times and eventually ended the fight, Thompson a victim of a reverse triangle being punched backwards by Brown on the forehead.

    Brown - Majority Decision

    Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs

Always a fan of Chad (Gravedigger) and his fabulous mutton chops. Unfortunately I think Travis Browne was also a fan of the chops and looked like he wanted them himself. Brown pushed Griggs into the corner and with a double flying knee knocked Griggs silly, Browne gets the MT Plum in and gives a few knees more. Eventually taking Griggs down, Browne slides on top and sinks in a Arm Triangle Choke.

    Travis Brown - Submission R1

    Mark Bocek vs. John Alessio

Always a fan of Bocek and havent seen him a while, same with Alessio who I initially didnt recognise, fought Pat Miletich for the title years ago. Bocek however dominated over 3 rounds, controlled the ground game and everything in general.

    Bocek - Unanimous Decision

    Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin

As a fan of Hominick and Yagin, I was torn but I always root for The Machine. Hominick needs the win from his "blink and you miss it" KO loss to Korean Zombie.

It was nearly Deja Vu when Hominick was knocked down nearly straight away from Yagin's strikes, Yagin dives on top and starts elbowing away and at one point I thought Hominick was out but he survives..albeit battered and bruised.

Round 2 - Hominick comes out more level headed, he peppers Yagin's face with counter jabs and kicks to the legs. Yagin does his trademark baseball bat style swinging punches. But Yagin's face kept getting bloodier and bloodier, Yagin manages to land a few counters of his own but was always on his back foot.
It wasnt until the round ends and we see the cornermen working on Yagin's obviously squashed in nose till the damage was truly seen.
Round 3 - Hominick presses the action further and tries to finish the fight, but The Philipino Phenom is tough with his wild swings and iron jaw. Knowing that he wont be taken down, it becomes a very sluggish technical slugfest to the end.

Split Decision - Yagin = Personally I dispute this one as I felt it was obvious Hominick won the last 2 rounds quite clearly.

    Miguel Torres vs. Michael McDonald
Miguel regresses slightly back to his old fighting stance while he was WEC Champion but still had his left arm quite far out. He didnt have that much of a reach/height advantage that he usually has and used his a lot of head movement.
Unfortunately this was also his undoing. Miguel avoids a barrage of strikes, using deft head movement he ducks right into a uppercut which takes him down. 21yr old McDonald dives on and finishes off Miguel early with a suprise finish.

    McDonald -KNOCK...OOOOUT R1

    Brendan Schaub vs. Ben Rothwell

Rothwell looks great, very lean and very mean. While his name is called he does some form of hand raising gesture that would make The Undertaker proud. Schaub is the favourite, also looking a bit leaner, off the bell, Schaub dives towards Rothwell and starts swinging. Rothwell is rocked and paws at Schaub, while eyes closed from strikes, Big Ben manages to clip Schaub on the ear with a left hook and Schaub crumbles.
Rothwell jumps and lands a few more strikes to Schaubs face (oh yes) and is finally pushed off by the ref. Schaub is trying to grab onto an imaginary opponent while looking very very far away.

    Rothwell - TKO strikes R1

    Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills

Canada vs UK. A long time follower of Mills, I thought this would be an awesome match up and great to see him as a Co-Main. Mills starts off with some good strikes which got Rory on the back foot. I actually cant remember how but MacDonald manages to get Mills onto the ground and thats where it goes wrong. Macdonald manages to get Mills into a full mount and starts elbowing the face, opening cuts to the face of Mills. The round ends with Mills having a large swelling on his cheek.
Mills comes out in the 2nd round and the pain in his face is obvious as he tries to avoid the strikes. Macdonald takes a single leg and turns Mills around (something I rarely seen happen to Mills) and once again gets into full mount and into Crucifix.
Mills eats a few elbows and at one point, like an executioner raising an axe...MacDonald chambers a punch which excites the crowd. He doesnt throw the punch but manouvers Mills onto his front and flattens him out. And rains punches to the back of Mills' head.

    MacDonald - TKO Strikes R2

    Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans

    FINALLY!

Both come out semi crawling and then standing. The two former sparring partners circle each other, after some back and forth action, Rashad manages to get a couple of hits in. But ultimately he was unable to get through Jones' defence and reach. Evans gets rocked by some strong short standing elbows across the temple and jaw and visible swelling can be seen growing.
Coming out for Round 2 Evans' eyes tell the story that he had to change his gameplan and quick, however if he was to ever plan on taking Jones down, he didnt show it. Some clinching and a bit of hand battling but no takedown attemps were ever made to the ground.
Jones seemed content at bringing his hands out like Frankenstein, having Rashad grab the hands and then Jones throwing short elbows from there.
At one point Jones tried to throw a jumping turning kick but was caught by Rashad mid air, Jones managed to escape and then carry on his attack.

As unorthodox as Jones is this was at his most grounded and "normal" but still with his flair. Over 5 rounds Evans was unable to amount any substantial attack save for a few over hand rights that may have clipped Jones but no where near in trouble like he was against Lyoto.

Unanimous Decision and STILL LHW Champion - Jon Jones.

Hendo is always capable of getting the lucky shot on just about anyone. I just don't see anyone beating the champ though.
